Welp, that was quick. Apparently both the management agency and his publicist completely cut ties yesterday with Russell, with his management team stating "Russell Brand categorically and vehemently denied the allegation made in 2020, but we now believe we were horribly misled by him. TW has terminated all professional ties to Brand.” So in other words, they knew he was a sleazeball but kept him on as a client anyway until the crap hit the fan. When both your management and publicist leave you, the party's over and it's time to go home. His remaining concerts in the UK have also been cancelled, but we don't know if that was Russell or the venue's decision. There definitely seems to be enough people defending him and going to last week's show, he even got a standing ovation so I guess cultivating the QAnon crowd is paying off. Apparently, there's even more women coming forward now, so who knows what's going to happen. I watched some of the Dispatches show that featured this on Channel 4 and had to turn it off. He is really vile, and what's even worse is that so many people knew about him to the point that certain outlets refused to book him with women guests because of his behavior. Put him under the jail, please. www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/russell-brands-management-agency-terminates-ties-sexual-assault-allega-rcna105476

Speaking of quick, Bijou Phillips just filed for divorce. I wonder what the higher ups in Scientology think about that. If she was smart - and that's a big "if," seeing as how she married Danny Masterson to begin with - she'd leave that "church" and get her life back. IIRC, the rest of her family are not Scientologists - or at least her sister Chynna isn't - so it's not as if she'd be losing her whole family if she left. Maybe she'd be sad to lose her in-laws, but since they all supported a rapist, I don't think that's any big loss.

I am thinking DM told her over and over again I did not do anything they said .... BP has now decided it was lies. He was lying to her. Plus they have a young daughter. Time to move on, BP. Also I read that she is very close to her Sisters, MacKenzie and Chynna and they are there for her.

Given who Bijou had as a male role model, it's not terribly surprising that her picker is off, though Chyna seems to have chosen well.

As far as Russell Brand .... I always thought he was rather odd but I never followed him in anything he did from comedy to movies.

I don't care much for this thread because it is inherently selectively political. I am not a Russell Brand follower or enthusiast, but I recall he denounced his behavior from decades ago and I can name a good handful of other prominent men more deserving of being canceled and not being touched.

Rose McGowan makes a valid point.

Rose McGowan makes a valid point. Yes, of course Rose McGowen has a point, and a good one. BUT her point may not necessarily apply in THIS case, to the charges against Russell Brand. First of all, these charges have occurred over many years, and go way back. Some of his accusers HAVE allowed themselves to be identified: Jordan Martin and Dannii Minogue, to name a few. And as to the others, just because some of his accusers have not been named TO THE PUBLIC does NOT mean that the media is just making these allegations up. Some of the accusers DID go to the police (i.e. to Scotland Yard and other police agencies) to file an official report against him, and some accusers sought documented medical care at a rape treatment center, and some told other persons what Brand did to them, but they did not want their names to be released to the PUBLIC. That's a very different thing than claiming that the charges against Russell Brand are a fictitious media blitz against him! (And a POLITCALLY MOTIVATED media blitz, at that!) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Brandnypost.com/2023/09/24/russell-brand-was-grilled-by-police-in-2014-over-claims-he-sexually-assaulted-masseuse/www.thecut.com/article/russell-brand-allegations.html

I’m not understanding how politics play a role in who gets called out and who doesn’t, unless we are talking about conservatives who are more than willing to sweep what they say they stand for under the rug when it is convenient.
With Russell, what is being described is a clear pattern of behavior. The only thing unfortunate is that he has gotten away with it for so long. I don’t care who the messenger was.

I'm not in support cancel-culture-accusation-you're-guilty. Specificly I'm not comfortable with society moving in the direction of fascism, where big businesses, in this case big media, big tech and politicaL interests, targeting quasi-adjudications with intent to destroy livelyhoods and lives without the benefit of due processes. Please note I am not defending Russell Brand's prior offensive behavior. Nor is it my intention to berate another that doesn't agree with my point of view.

What a PIECE OF CRAP. I just read this News as well. I remember when this happened. The JERK is already in jail in Peru serving a 28 year sentence. Looks like they will tack on only 20 years for Natalee's death because of a plea agreement.

Thank you for posting this. I just read about it. I had no idea he extorted Beth. My heart is with her today. The extortion created the path that led to Juran murdering Stephany Flores, in that the $25k Beth paid upfront bankrolled Joran's gambling in Peru. I don't think Beth or Dave believe anything Joran says. The impact statements are part of the legal proceedings and Joran's sentencing is justice for Natalee. I can only assume Joran's admitting to murdering Natalie, extortion and wire fraud benefits him. (Oh, yes it does. Joran is now serving the US sentence consecutively with his Peruvian sentence. Plus, extradition to the US was a free vacay!)

And holding van der Sloot accountable for preying on her pain didn't award him with a vacation. Beth now knows her daughter fought back. That would be the only closure at this point that would be of any comfort to me, and she now has it.

And holding van der Sloot accountable for preying on her pain didn't award him with a vacation. Beth now knows her daughter fought back. That would be the only closure at this point that would be of any comfort to me, and she now has it. It's not what I said. Here are the facts. Joran's father died on 2-10-10, and Joran returned to Aruba. By then, Joran had already made a chuck of money sex trafficking women and gambling. He intended to attend high roller poker tournaments, didn't have enough money and approached Beth Holloway's attorney on 3-30-10, asking for $250k in exchange for information leading to Natalee's remains. Beth's attorney contacted the FBI and set up an extortion sting operation to force Joran into the US court system by the attorney meeting Joran in Aruba on 5-10-10, giving him $10k cash and another $15k by wire transfer. Joran provided bogus information about Natalee’s remains. Beth was said to be shocked and dismayed when learning Joran was freely able to leave Aruba within a day or two instead of the FBI preventing this by immediately filing extortion charges against Joran. Charges were not filed until 6-3-10. With $25k in hand, Joran made his way to Peru, had by then lost all Beth’s money, hooked up with Stephany Flores who had just won $10k. Joran killed Stephany Flores in his hotel room on 5-30-10, stole her $10k, other money, jewelry, credit cards and car. nypost.com/2010/06/09/fbi-cash-funded-shoot-slay-trip/ www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/09/us.van.der.sloot.alabama/Beth isn't responsible for Stephany Flores' death, but her death devastated Beth, and I imagine, Dave, too. Finally, no one believes anything Joran has to say, not even Joran's mother. It would be nice, but what he says is never true. Thus, there is no comfort for Beth and Dave in Joran's conviction other than sharing impact statements and a bit of justice for Natalee -- not for her death, but for the extortion related to her death. In exchange, Joran managed to receive a few months away from his Peruvian hellhole and as punishment going forward, time concurrent. Honestly, i'm surprised Joran is still alive.

I have to admit, this bombshell has been a long time coming. I've heard whispers about Sean Combs being grimy for years, but the things he did to Cassie were truly horrific and now all the good deeds he's been doing this year are suspect as hell, including giving back the publishing rights for his Bad Boy artists (in return for them signing NDAs prohibiting them from speaking badly about him. Mmmmhmmm). I know a few people in the business, and the things they had to say about him weren't good. I'm beginning to also think that there's some truth to people's suspicions with him about Tupac and how his wife died and I hope that gets a closer look as well. He's just stank, vile, and needs to be put under the jail like R. Kelly.
Warning: If you're thinking about reading the NYT report or anything about this please know that the material is...let's just say even the official court documents have trigger warnings, so if you're a SA survivor you might want to skip doing that, because it's honestly that bad. There are no words for what he did to that woman, and I'm so glad she finally got away from him and made a lovely family with a man who truly loves her.
edit: I put the Tweet code in and have no idea why it's not showing up because I see it when I edit the post.

I 100% believe Cassie. I'm on page 17 of the 67 page lawsuit, and damn it's a brutal read. Sean Combs is a trash bag.
It took less than. 24 hours for Diddy to settle that lawsuit. That's not a coincidence.

A little more information in case people are thinking she did it for the money:
1. She had to file a civil, not criminal lawsuit because of the statues of limitations on rape in NY.
2. There are limits to how long you have to file, and her claim was close to date.
3. Previously, he offered her 7 figures to sign a NDA stipulating she will not say anything bad about him. This tracks, as he made that a stipulation for his Bad Boy artists to get publishing rights. She turned him down.
I think she did this so what he did to her could be on public record instead of Internet rumors, plus if anything happened to her or her family police will know where to start looking. Smart, as while there's been loads of rumors about how she and Kim Porter were treated there was never confirmation. Now his abuse of Cassie at least has been confirmed, and it was so much worse than everyone initially thought. In addition, a lot of people are coming forward and confirming the abuse as well, including Aubrey O'Day of Danity Kane, two longstanding members on Diddy's security team, Kimora Lee Simmons (who has been asking for an investigation into Kim Porter's death for years), and other industry people. Considering how even more unrelated dirt has been released in the past 24 hours about Sean's shadyness (blowing up people's cars, pimping out Cassie and other stars both male and female on his label, louder mumbles about Tupac, some mess about Bieber, non kosher business dealings, etc) it doesn't surprise me that he settled this in record time because could you imagine what the prosecutors might find during the discovery process? He's grimy, and I hope Cassie got enough "LOL, you bastard" money to be in comfort and keep her family safe.
It also seems like a lot of past associates were looking for an opportunity to talk, and that time is now. I'm also glad that except for the usual tradwife types and misogynistic men the Internet has been overwhelmingly supportive of Cassie.

FWIW Kid Cudi confirmed that Sean blew up his car and other people confirmed some of the other things that Cassie stated in the lawsuit (including him yanking a plug of hair out of her head because she didn't want to get it cut ) so it's more than a small percent. If anything, it's an understatement. It's like R Kelly; half of the South Side of Chicago knew about his nature, talked about it, and either kept their girls away from him (or sadly saw it as an opportunity for their children to get famous) and it stayed in the neighborhood and on the Internet until someone decided to start digging. I hope that happens to Sean Combs as well.
