I read somewhere that women who have to stand a lot in high heels wear them a size larger, stuff the toe then pull out the stuffing when their feet swell. Who invented high heels and why?
Even when the DM said she remembered to uncross her knees and go into the Duchess Slant, she didn't uncross her knees, just went into the slant.

I would like her to move beyond neutral tones but in this particular case, I thought she looked really pretty! (Maybe next time a tad less blush, though, so her complexion can shine through.) Here is my concern: Why does Harry look so glum in most of the photos?! He's a newlywed! I hadn't noticed that Harry was looking glum. I always thought he looked happy. I'll have to pay more attention the next time and see what I notice.

One has to remember why they are at certain events..grinning/smiling isn't always called for,

I know that the duchess slant is a thing, but Meghan is not the only one crossing her legs like that. Within the past month Camilla also crossed her legs on an engagement out with the queen, at a dog (shelter?) charity event. Maybe it's more of a guideline than a rule. Who cares anyhow. Are they going to pick apart every single little tiny thing she does? They need to let her learn her new role without all the criticism.

No, not everyone does..I barely notice her legs or anyone else's ..some of it is really petty to me. I doubt very much if Meghan , Kate, even Camilla even know they are being criticized( let alone care)

I searched "duchess slant" on Google Images. Pretty funny.
If they weren't wearing such high spikes they wouldn't have to slant.
And how come the dukes get to spread their legs with abandon? LOL

Harry was probably looking glum because he landed home from his weekend Africa trip at 6 AM. Probably jet lagged to the max and yet, he spiffed up and presented a talk.

I've come to the conclusion that there are people who watch Meagan for the sole purpose to nitpick and criticize everything she does, and the vast majority of them appear to be other women. This makes me really sad.

In fact they still are..lol Royal watchers have been around since I knew of them in the UK, only we didnt have SM and most of it was a) in the paper or b) on the news Anthony Armstrong Jones made every paper..it's not new.

LOL It can't be such a strict rule if even the Queen crosses her legs or doesn't keep her legs tightly together. No, you can't 'see' anything, but still, I keep wanting to say "Psssst, Your Majesty, you might really want to keep your legs together."

Meghan looks absolutely stunning in those pics. Face, hair, dress, SHOES - all on point! I think she's being very smart by dressing mostly in neutrals. Firstly, they're very flattering with her skin and hair, but secondly (and more importantly), that muted palette allows the Queen to really stand out in her bright colors. It's a nice bit of deference, IMO.
I got a giggle out of how the DM actually captioned one of the pics with "The Queen (third left)" like no one could have picked her out otherwise
I guess the comparisons to Catherine are inevitable, but I hate that the media can't just let them be themselves. Just because Meghan opted for wavy hair, it doesn't mean she's copying her sil. There are only so many appropriate hairstyles for a young royal. There's bound to be some overlap!
I did notice that Meghan is crossing her legs in some of those pics, which is a big no-no. She's still learning. I know I'd have a hard time breaking myself of that habit!
I showed my British husband that pic, and he cracked up. Is there anybody on this planet who could not identify Her Majesty?
You're not allowed to cross your legs? Oh man, the palace etiquette advisors would have field day trying to break off that habit.
Love the dress! Pink is one of my favorite colors. I didn't like the comparison to Diana, though. Diana was very glamorous, like a super model. Meghan looks like your down-to-earth friend that you would go shopping with.

But let's remember that Diana, who was very young, was not glamorous when she first married William. She grew into it as the years went by, and she became much more stylized. And, most of the glamour pics we saw of her were evening pics, in which she was very dressed up. During the daytime though, she was usually dressed casually, depending on where she was going. As for Meghan, (who is, admittedly, much older than Diana was, when she got married) she already has a fair amount of sophistication at the start --- but let's see how glamorous she starts looking, now that she's got her million dollar wardrobe --- especially for evening events which she will be dressing up for. www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5878101/Meghans-million-dollar-wardrobe.html

The fashion commentary that I forever remember about Diana was just before the wedding and the press won't leave her alone, she's stepping of the back of a car in beautiful sleeveless outfit. There is a slight flesh bulge at her armpit where it meets the top of the dress. The asshole reporter thinks s/he is perhaps being kind by saying Diana looks lovely, she just needs to watch out for "a little bit of puppy fat". WTF? Apparently the press could only have fully approved of someone anorexic.
I always liked Diana but I also felt sorry for her because of her very young age, being thrown into that life where no one seemed to be supporting her. To me she was always gorgeous and stylish no matter what she wore. Meghan is so much older and seems so right with Harry, and has a major advantage over Diana of having been accepted by the queen. It's fun seeing what she is wearing but I don't feel I'm judging her. I think Meghan is stunning, no less so than Diana and that she will also develop a more consistent style. I'm also fascinated by Meghan because I'm an American and so was she. I couldn't imagine myself marrying Charles at age 19, and I can't imagine myself marrying into the British royal family as an American commoner (although I think Harry would make that easier, LOL).

She's no stranger to high-end designers. IMO, she's always been pretty glamorous! I do think she's experiencing a new way of dressing. Much less skin showing now, that's for sure! I can't wear heels for long periods of time (and a 5" heel would make me look like a WNBA player ), but I think they look great on other women. I thought her black stilettos were very elegant with that blush colored suit. Wish I could pull them off, but I look like a linebacker in stilettos. Alas. I think the leg crossing thing probably applies to other female royals, but not the Queen. I'd guess that most of the rules don't apply to her

When we visit Hubby's family in the UK, the plane usually arrives at about 7 a.m. Combine a long overnight flight with several time zone changes, and the prospect of standing in the Customs line, and trust me, you're not smiling. That does make me wonder, though. Do the Royals have passports? Obviously they don't stand in the Customs line. How does that get handled? Do they even have their own plane? I read somewhere that the American President is the only head of state who has his own plane. The British PM charters a British Airways plane. Is it the same for Her Majesty and family?
Well, this thread has certainly been informative. I will never be able to sit in public again without wondering if I'm doing it correctly.
I read in a fashion book once that Rose Kennedy (JFK's mother) was shocked! when Jackie dared to not wear pantyhose. And this is still an issue forty years later?
Meghan and Kate have it so much easier than Diana ever did. Back in the latter's day, you were expected to be swallowed up by the Palace. Everything they told you was set in stone and woe betide you if you broke a rule like not crossing your legs properly! Diana was absolutely miserable.

Meghan definitely has a sense of style! And from what we know of her, it seems to match her personality. I wish people wouldn't compare Meghan's style to Kate's style. They're both very different from each other, and each of them seems to have a sense of style that goes well with THEIR OWN personalities.

So do I. Have mercy above, when she passes away, the tidal wave of grief will probably swamp the British Isles. I know I'll be crying. Since Hubby is a Brit he might even fly home for the ceremony. I read an excellent book called "Game of Crowns" by some veteran royal correspondent. He talked about how they have a plan of action for when Her Majesty passes, so the country won't go into a crisis. On a more personal note, he said that nobody has indicated they would be willing to take the corgis. Apparently, Her Majesty is the only one who really likes them. Therefore, the dogs will probably be given away to good families. Can you imagine owning a former royal dog?
In that same book, it talks about how you can tell who's in favor and who's out. Look for those group photos, especially on the balcony of Westminster Palace. Whoever is squeezed in the back away from the cameras is usually out of favor at the moment.
Kate has been quiet for a while. Is she simply letting Harry and Meghan enjoy the newlywed glow?

I think I read recently that the last of the corgis died, so there aren't any left to worry about. Sad for the queen, who loved them so much.

Te last of the corgis bred down from the original corgis died, but I think there are new ones as well. Remember when Harry commented how the corgis love Meghan, but not himself?

It seems like it was a long time ago, but she really only gave birth a few months ago. I'm sure she's thrilled to be able to stay at home and out of the spotlight while Harry and Meghan do the public appearances. Gossip sites are saying that, once again, Meghan's father is going to talk to the press. One blind item (that's barely blind) said that she's asked him repeatedly to NOT speak to the press and he keeps doing it, so she's done with him. He'll never meet Harry and will never be in their lives, but since they can't actually SAY that, they'll come up with some excuse about why the meeting hasn't happened. I can't imagine dealing with that kind of disloyalty from your own family. She's better off without them. Obviously, they need to be prepared, but this is still upsetting to read: www.express.co.uk/news/royal/982151/Queen-Elizabeth-dead-death-national-mourning-plan-royal-newsThe Queen is back to work and in Scotland. I'm glad she's feeling better, but WOW, she doesn't get much time off, does she?
ETA: Adding links to a few articles about Meghan's father:

Gawd, that is so sad for Meghan. What a shame that her father has no respect for her AT ALL. What a idiot to keep "selling her out" to the press for money.
Lowest of the low. Scumbag.
