I am with you on the heat Crit, When I avoid my classwork I binged The Paradise, I enjoyed it a great deal as well. Since it was not renewed, I am happy they ended it on a solid note. I also binged Medici and Versailles. Medici I watched for the reason it was Robb Stark, lol. I found it ok.. It could have been better. But they do follow the RL story of the family decently well. I really liked Versailles tho, I cna't wait for next (albeit last) season. I am mesmerized by the opening sequence and music, but I also enjoy M83's music. The song, Outro, fits the show perfectly.

I tried Versailles, but it was just too..... porny for me, if that makes sense? It's not a good sign when the best part of the show is the opening credits! I also tried Medici and just couldn't get through it. Dustin Hoffman as a 16th century Italian. Sorry, nope :down Pulled me right out of the story. I love period dramas, but the casting has to be right. It was almost as bad as my beloved Jack Lemmon in Kenneth Branaugh's, Hamlet. That one broke my heart a little.
I'm curious about Evil Genius on Netflix - this is the one about the bank heist. I've been reticent to watch because of the stuff in the preview with the collar. I just need to know if they actually show it detonating on screen. I at least need to be warned so I can avoid seeing that. Has anyone watched it yet?

They do show that collar detonating on Evil Genius. I was sort of surprised by it. They shot they had wasn't super gory or anything, but...damn. The series was well done, though, just when I thought those people couldn't get any more messed up - they did. It's crazy, the stuff some people get themselves mixed up in.
I've started The Staircase, another true crime series. I'll hold judgment until I've watched it all...
ETA: I couldn't remember so I had to look it up - the detonation happens about ten minutes into the first episode, so you can avoid it if you want.

The detonation in Evil Genius isn't bloody. It's brief and from a distance. But if you like watching really batsh!t crazy people, you'll love this! I could watch it again!

I just got Netflix a few weeks ago so I've been binge-watching it. I started with Young & Hungry and Nailed It. Then I was watching Ultimate Beastmaster and Stranger Things. I just started on Orange is the New Black this weekend.

Yesterday I binged on The West Wing. It seemed right, being the 4th and all. I loved The West Wing, and it's totally binge-worthy. I wish it was real. Right now.

LOL, it does.. and it can be. But beyond that it was a really good show.
I also agree on Dustin Hoffman as a 16th century Italian. I was like who the heck is he playing when i saw the credits.

Netflix . . . "Anne with an E" (based on Anne of Green Gables). Watched both seasons in just a few days. Loved every minute of it. And then I found out that the book is considered classic now, so it was free on Kindle!!! Looking forward to reading it.

I love that show! I love that little girl and her freckles. I'm only on maybe the 3rd episode of Season 2.

I've been doing UK/Australian crime shows. I just started The Doctor Blake Mysteries, an Australian period drama set in the late 50's/early 60's about a crime solving doctor. REALLY good, so far.
I just finished Retribution, another of those British dramas re-titled and released on Netflix. It had a great cast, but was just okay. The ending/reveal of the murderer had a ton of holes.
Before that, it was Hinterland a crime drama set in Wales. Very good, but a bit dreary. Not all of the episodes were great, but some were terrific. Stunning cinematography.
I finally finished season 2 of Nailed It! Really good, but I was disappointed that the finale wasn't a full-length episode.

If you love Anne of Green Gables (the 1st book) then you'll be happy to know that there are many more books in the series, and they get better and better, as Anne gets older and experiences all there is to growing up. This Wikipedia article is charming and really gives you a wonderful background of Anne and the other characters in her life: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_of_Green_Gables

The Harry Potter epic is playing on both USA and SyFy simultaneously today (7/14). I've been dipping in and out between other projects.

They just showed a preview "explanation" for Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindlewald. JK Rowling was among those who described how the new film digs deeper into the complexity of magic during that time. To see Jude Law as a young Dumbledore and back to Hogwarts is going to make this film truly wonderful.

I just started on episode 3 of Wanted on Netflix. I'm totally hooked. It's an Australian series about two very different women - strangers who happen to be at the same bus stop - who end up on the run when they're pulled into a mess of murder and police corruption. It's got a bit of a Thelma & Louise feel to it with two women on the run AND with two strong leads.

I've watched many of the shows you all have mentioned already: The Staircase- I had never heard of this case & I found him to be off-putting to say the least. I don't get how his "daughters" could stand by him. The Rain- Loved this! Safe- also loved it. Something happened in every episode. Unbreakable Kimmy Shmidt- I just watch while I'm making dinner Mindhunter- a little slow, but I still liked it. Sneaky Pete- I liked the 1st season, but am having a hard time getting through season 2.
I just started watching Criminal Minds. I don't know why I didn't watch it when it started, it's right up my alley. My husband rec'd Evil Genius as well. I might need to check that out. I'm also thinking about getting my free 30 day trial of Hulu to watch Handmaid's tale.

I put Wanted on temporary hold because season 4 of UnREAL just dropped on Hulu I'm not even going to pretend I don't plan to binge all 8 episodes in one go.

My husband rec'd Evil Genius as well. I might need to check that out. I'm also thinking about getting my free 30 day trial of Hulu to watch Handmaid's tale. Oh, you will love Handmaid's Tale!! That free trial from Hulu is a perfect opportunity to watch both seasons! This series is frighteningly prescient considering the present political climate in the US. Other than that, I find Hulu of little interest. They have a lot of what I get for free with my Comcast cable and they don't have the number of original programming, movies, etc that Netflix, HBO, SHO or Amazon Prime have. So I just sign up temporarily when I'm interested in something and quit until there is something else I'm interested in (only Handmaid's Tale so far). Definitely check out Evil Genius! An incredibly bizarre story with the craziest 'not locked up or medicated' actual characters you'll find! Jaw droppingly weird.

We're still watching Staircase..he creeps me out! He is creepy. And I'm not entirely convinced of his innocence, after watching that whole mess. The owl theory is a little out there for me...in no way do I believe she just "fell" down those stairs, though. Nope. I read that Peterson seriously dated the editor of The Staircase for a while.

I finished the final season of UnREAL this afternoon *sob* It was SO good! If the show had to end, I'm glad it was on a season like this rather than that flat third season. I'm really going to miss the show and the Quinn-Rachel dynamic. It's not often that you see such a complex female relationship on TV.
Now I'm back to the second season of Wanted. It's such a roller coaster! I was thrilled to find that they're doing a third season. I can't wait to see what happens next!

I just discovered that EPIX is doing a free preview week that ends on Sunday. I just started Berlin Station. CIA intrigue in (duh) Berlin with a GREAT cast: Richard Armitage, Rhys Ifans, Tamlyn Tomita, Richard Jenkins, Michelle Forbes. I'm on episode two of 19 total. Hope I finish before access gets turned off!

Started watching "Somewhere Between" on Netflix. The kid in it was so obnoxious that I didn't care what happened to her. "Remove from My List." Yep, that’s why I (and, IIRC, several other FORTers) stopped watching. FM - my feelings about Chuck changed as the show progressed. I ended up having more sympathetic feelings for him in the end.

Just binged The Forest yesterday. Perfect at only 6 episodes. If you don't mind subtitles, this French series is great if you like Safe, The Five, Criminal Minds type shows. Small town, missing girls, creepy suspects, mysterious characters with mysterious backgrounds....
