I just started Safe on Netflix. Michael C. Hall plays the lead roll and probably the most well known actress in the cast is Amanda Abbington (Sherlock).
Widowed surgeon Tom has struggled to raise his two daughters alone following his wife's death a year ago. Things seem to be on the right track for the family, who live in a gated community, because they have close friends nearby and Tom is in the early stages of a new relationship. But the situation takes a turn for the worse when Jenny, Tom's oldest daughter, goes missing along with her boyfriend. Tom enlists girlfriend Sophie, a police detective, to help locate the teens, but her new partner is working her own agenda. As the investigation intensifies, Tom unearths dark secrets about the people closest to him in his affluent neighborhood. The drama series was created by mystery novelist Harlan Coben
I was hooked in a few minutes!

Oooh!!! I love a good Harlan Coben novel.
I just saw Michael C. Hall last night when I was watching 'The Crown'. I was surprised to see him as JFK.

Scandal! Thought about jumping in a year or two ago, then I decided to wait until it was all over and on Netflix. Love it, except season 6. The whole series of flashbacks to the presidential campaign after we already knew the outcome was monotonous, still plodding my way through it. Not surprised it was only given one more season after that, hope season 7 is way better than 6.

Oooh!!! I love a good Harlan Coben novel. I just saw Michael C. Hall last night when I was watching 'The Crown'. I was surprised to see him as JFK. It's got a very Broadchurch vibe to it - intrigue in a small community, the evil is on the inside of the community, not the outside, lots of twists. I finished the series yesterday. Stayed up WAY too late (early?) to finish it because I had to find out what happened!
Now I'm binging 12 Monkeys on Hulu. I tried to get into it after season 1 or 2 (can't remember which), but Comcast didn't have previous seasons OnDemand. I may be keeping this Hulu subscription longer than I planned...

I think someone on FoRT recommended 'The Joel McHale show with Joel McHale' it's the re-boot of Talk Soup on Netflix.
It's put a smile on my face - he's so good at being snarky!

Safe now has two more episodes, is it wrong for me to want our company to hurry up through dinner tonight

Glad you're enjoying it, beerbelly! I hope they'll do a second season, although it might be a letdown like the subsequent seasons of Broadchurch were. Still good, but just not as good.

I might want to check out Broadchurch now. I know nothing about it.
But Safe is just like reading a Harlen Coben novel, twists and turns and red herrings.
Perfect since my tv still isn't working - couldn't get through to support today and that means I'm to miss Dateline tonight.

DEFINITELY watch Broadchurch (with my TV boyfriend, David Tennant). The first season is especially good. Plus, if you're a fan of The Crown, you can get a look at Olivia Colman, who'll be taking over the lead roll as the Queen from Claire Foy next season. IIRC, OC won at least one acting award for Broadchurch. That show was so successful that Fox had to screw it up for American audiences a few seasons ago with Gracepoint. It wasn't terrible, but they had DT speak in an American accent and they replaced Olivia Colman with Anna Gunn, both of which were poor choices.

Seriously???? I LOVE David Tennant!!! He is sexy! And yes, I'm a fan of The Crown. Haven't finished Season 2 yet. Just finished the episode with Charles going to boarding school. So I had to take a break. As much as I love Clare Foy, I like when they put age appropriate actors in age appropriate roles instead of make-up. I'm on Episode 5 on Safe. FM, you done with dinner yet?

It's SO corny, but I don't care. I've watched it SO many times!
I'll miss Clare Foy, but I agree - I don't want to see her in special effects playing the Queen at 65 or something.
I didn't realize that season 2 of 13 Reasons Why was already out, so I just started watching s2 e1. I'm curious to see how they continue the story.

I stayed up until 1am watching Safe - went to bed when my laptop battery died. Haven't finished it.
The only quibble I have is that Micheal C. Hall's British accent takes me out of the story at times. I wish they just made him American. I wonder why it's so easy for people to do an American accent and we can't do, say, a British one. I think it has to do with our 'r's. THAT was a whole conversation in my head trying to sleep....
I also just adore the actress that plays Zoe. Wow!!! She is BEAUTIFUL.

So true! But I forgive him, he is such a great actor, I just love watching his facial expressions. I've loved him since Six Feet Under. I just wish someone just stepped in and told him to give it up. But since he is an Executive Producer, I guess no one could tell him.

I love how his accent comes and goes.. .. And speaking of wonderful accents, I love, love, love Sam Heughan's Scottish accent as Jamie Fraser in Outlander!!! I totally fell in love with the show (and Jamie) fairly recently, and now that I've finished binge watching all 3 seasons I don't know what I'm going to do until season 4 starts next November. I might have to start from the beginning and watch them all again!

Better late than ever, I got on a "Sherlock" kick (Cumberbatch rocks). It is SO different . . . each episode has its own uniqueness. It's been a wonderful distraction from the craziness our real life had become. Now that life is settling down, I'm loving it even more!

I binged Safe too. I had to remind myself MCH wasn’t British, so I could forgive the accent slips 😂 So interesting they locked themselves in with all of the danger. I also binged the second season of Shannara Chronicles, and now I’m on to the second season of The Last Kingdom.

I'm watching the Alienist. It's kind of gross and graphic, but I love Dakota Fanning and Sara Vickers makes a guest appearance and I love anything she's in.

So Michael C. Hall is not a Brit (or Aussie)? I'm so confused. So often I'm shocked when an actor, like Freddie Hightower, reveals his real accent that I just assumed MCH was a Brit and thought, "Who Knew?"
I'm watching The Handmaid's Tale, Season 2. But took a binging-day off today to go through every forum and post a little something in each thread I follow to put that show in my "Participated" button, my new "New" button! Bonus.... broke out of Newbie status!! I'm getting the hang of this new format!

And speaking of great British castles, I just started binge watching Downton Abbey!!! And because I watched all of the episodes years ago, when they were originally aired, now that I'm watching them again from the beginning, it's so odd knowing what's going to happen, every time there is an issue of some sort. And it's also so odd seeing each character, knowing so much more about them than we were ever allowed to know at any given time. Loving it. Can't wait for the movie!!!
