Why the gunshot at the end of Endeavour?
Such a touching goodbye between Thursday and Morse. Thursday was the father he never really had, more than just a mentor. Win was the substitute mom giving him that Wednesday sandwich in goodbye. They were his adoptive family, leaving. The love of his life Joan, having just married Strange (another man who saved his life in the nick of time.) Perhaps it was a possible suicide, but it could have just been Morse releasing his pent up emotions into the sky.
Whatever it was, it signaled an end to the Endeavour we have all come to love, and know......also, lovely tribute to the Morse series with John Thaw at the end. A passing of the baton.....Endeavour's classic black vehicle passing by the slick, sporty red one always driven by senior Thaw, was lovely. Their eyes in the rear view mirror.
I admit, I did some real crying saying good bye to my favorite detective. Miss you already!

LOL, some things are difficult for me to let go of. I've finally reconciled that gunshot, as just another Morse fantasy during that episode. His future was uncertain in the moment, he had lost Joan (without confessing his feelings), Thursday was gone, maybe the gun shot was just something he fantasized out of loneliness? And, then we see the reality, that he didn't do it, as he drives off.
Well, it will be my fantasy explanation.

Well, the way this season is heading, it probably won't come as a surprise that next season will be Tim Brittney's last on Grantchester. Meet the new handsome vicar replacement appearing next season on Grantchester.

Ah the last Endeavour...... so heartbreaking; i found solace in that Win finally made Morse a sandwich. I read an interpretation that the final fantasy kiss at the wedding is mainly Joan's fantasy. Morse arrives without a wound on him after he's basically been stabbed, late as usual "you know.....work". She is the one thinking of things that never were and all the what if's. But his tears are real and his wound is real and then he falls to the ground after all the things they never said. it's like an opera.
The gunshot was very weird; I see it as it's the death of everything he held in high esteem- Thursday is leaving and is not the man he thought he was in the end; his ideal is shattered, he's lost Joan forever, he can never have the friendship again that he did with Strange, he shot into the ground as a break to his old life and he has to start anew with new people. Truly one of the best and smartest shows in ages.

Yikes, Van der Valk looks intense this season. May have to watch this in daylight. Premiere is Sept 3, 2023.

Wasn't sure I was going to like the new season of Unforgotten for the first 15 minutes or so. Finally started to get into it, but it's the usual "first episode of the season introduces too many seemingly unrelated characters" syndrome.
But I love Sunny . . . so I'm in!

I love Sunny also. It felt a bit all over the place for me. I miss Nicola Walker, but, will eventually adjust to the new one. I really thought Sunny would be leading the team after last season. But, I guess they decided that it wasn’t right. I missed the premiere of Professor T season 2. So, I watched it after Unforgotten, and will catch up on Van der Valk tomorrow with passport. It’s better to watch during daylight anyway, to intense for me at nighttime.

My gf Hailey Mills was in Unforgotten, I hope we see more of her. I could of watched another hour. I like the new characters, in both series!

Is it just me, or is anyone else having a difficult time warming up to Cass’s replacement on Unforgotten? I know Sunny is still grieving over her death, I expected/wanted Sunny to take over the team. Maybe I’m grieving not seeing Nicola Walker. Anyway, I hope the dynamic between the new girl and Sunny improves.

It's as if she doesn't care if the case gets solved or not, and she should leave her personal crap at home. No, I'm not warming to her at all.

Having someone so unlike Cassie was to be expected (IMO). This "period of adjustment" gives them a lot of story line for this season. Remember that we had Cassie's challenges with her family and a boyfriend. It's never been all about the cases and the working relationships.
Having said that, Jess is a REALLY bad fit. So far, she's unlikeable, and that doesn't seem a good idea for the central character.

I’m going to assume that producers have deliberately made Jess and Sunny initial reactions bumpy. They’ve done a great job on Unforgotten so far, so something has to happen between them that will break the ice and, hopefully, give us a warmer character in Jess. But, at times, I find it hard watching her interact. I wish Sunny had taken lead, and they had just brought in a good second to interact with him.

I have to be honest, I've never heard of Great Britain's "Nolly". But, PBS is sending out early promo to get us interested. Here is what the newsletter shares and the link to watch the trailer. Lights, camera, action! Tune in on Sunday, March 17, 2024, for the premiere of the all-new miniseries Nolly, starring Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown, The King's Speech), based on the true story of Noele Gordon, one of British TV's most famous faces in the 60s and 70s.

Also, we have another new series on Masterpiece to look forward too in the spring.
MaryLand: Sometimes the greatest love story is the one between sisters. Find out about MaryLand, the new dramatic miniseries coming to MASTERPIECE in 2024 starring Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack), Eve Best (House of the Dragon) and Stockard Channing (The West Wing).
MaryLand will premiere on April 7, 2024 at 9/8c on MASTERPIECE on PBS, on air and online.
When it aired in the UK, television critics praised the series as “a moving portrait of sisterhood” (The Independent), “intriguing” (The Times), and “beautifully played” (The Scotland Herald).
MaryLand is a story about two sisters, about what binds them together and what has driven them apart. Becca (Jones) and Rosaline (Best) find themselves thrown together by the sudden death of their mother, Mary. They come to find out that she was living an entirely secret life on the Isle of Man, far from her home with her husband, Becca and Rosaline’s father.

I'm really loving Little Bird. It's on Sunday and Thursday nights and there was a documentary about the making of the series. It's very deep and beautifully acted but also very sad.
