Loving this show. Hopefully next season will be better

I used to really enjoy the old Roseanne show, partly because of it's crassness and Roseanne's sass. But now I just CAN'T watch it --- mainly because of Roseanne herself, (in real life and her tv version). She's just like 'nails on a blackboard' to me.

I love the turn they took with Roseanne's dependency on pills. While they'd been setting it up all season, I didn't see it coming.

acookertv, I agree with you. I didn't think they were going to go there, but glad they did. Addiction does not discriminate against anyone

I also like that they did it in a way that shows how complex the issue can be ... Roseanne was given pill for a legitimate reason. She's still on them because she can't afford a surgery that will fix it. Now Dan is stuck with deciding is it better to have a drug addicted wife, or face bankruptcy to pay the deductible on a surgery they can't afford. They didn't get into these problems because of poor decisions - they got into these problems because sometimes people are responsible, but are still faced with nothing but bad choices.

I agree, acookertv. And I think this situation is very reflective of what happens in real life. When a medical patient with pain is given opiates for a very legitimate reason, if the patient's pain problem is not resolved in a relatively short time, that's when the patient, often times, starts to develop an addiction to the medication. And once that addiction starts, it quickly turns into the opiate nightmare that is so wide spread right now. And it's not like these patients are 'bad people' looking to get high on some opiates. No. The people that we're referring to, are 'normal' people who develop pain (after surgery, or from an accident, or a medical condition, or whatever) -- but unfortunately, end up being 'addicts.' And this is especially true if their pain becomes chronic and long-lasting (which pain sometimes does). And to make matters even worse, there usually aren't any other (non-addicting) medications that will relieve the patient of the pain, so that person has no choice but to either keep taking the addictive medication, or to stop taking it and suffer the pain without any relief from it.

Wow... that was depressing. I turned it off when Dan was in the flooded basement being confronted by his friend. Any surprises after that?

A State of Emergency was declared. FEMA $ would be more than enough to cover the damage: Dan could do the work on his own and still have $ left over for Roseanne's knee surgery.
It ended with them all sitting down to a big meal minutes before the cutoff of when she could eat before surgery.

I didn't think it was depressing. I liked that Dan was joking with Rosanne and then got really angry with the door. This is how people feel and cope.
It isn't all perfect in that household like most.

I thought it was depressing. But not as a whole. Just moments. And it's probably because those moments hit so close to home. We've all been there, when life seems to be beating us down and we just can't catch a break. I think maybe this is why I've always liked Roseanne so much... the relatability. The red squiggly line says that's not a word but it is SO A WORD.

I liked the season Finale. It was very relatable while still humorous. I even liked the convenient resolution for their current money problems. I prefer a happy ending in my TV shows. We get enough of the other kind in real life. I don't need them in my escapism.

I enjoyed it, agree that the part with Dan in the basement was sad just as everyone said, but there was a satisfying resolution.... so, they ended the season on a good note. I still plan to watch this show as long as I continue to laugh from it (and they leave politics out of the show). lol fence

I'm just glad the season is over. I've had enough Roseanne to last me for quite a while! I found the first episode awful for a number of reasons (including politics and awkwardness of the cast), but I decided to give it more of a chance and it's sort of grown on me. However, my least favorite character is Roseanne herself, as an actor as well. Her voice is more irritating than nails on a chalkboard and she seems to mistake loudness for good acting. Sometimes I seriously have to hit mute when she has more than one line to deliver. My nervous system can't take it! On the other hand, I like John Goodman much more now than I did before. He's grown a lot as an actor and brings much more to his character than Roseanne does hers.

Darlene is my favorite, and I think has always been. I do love Dan too. I think Roseanne does not deliver her lines as spontaneously as she used too. Perhaps that is due to aging, memory loss. (shrug)

(shrug) It's in front of a live audience. They said they laugh at everything, so timing is way off.. Its a little harder as you age, they'll get there.. They were on ET, and Goodman was trying to explain, then he and Roseanne just laughed..

They just picked up, after so many years and fell right into the groove again. The show would have not made it this time, I think; if John Goodman's Dan had not been included.

Before the season started, I heard some people say that they weren't going to watch the show just because Roseanne supported the president. That just sounds kind of ridiculous to me. Whether a person supports a certain political party or not, it's a sitcom.

Roseanne Barr is under fire after a racist tweet about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett that compares her to an apewww.businessinsider.com/roseanne-barr-tweet-racist-valerie-jarrett-clintons2018-5Are you freaking kidding me .... OMG .... I will never watch this show ever. Roseanne is going to ruin this reboot for the actors (I love SG) if she does not stop this disgusting tweeting that she wants to simply call JOKING. OMG. NO WORDS.

And cue the apology .... too much too late. GO AWAY FOR GOOD, Roseanne. Later, Barr apologized, tweeting, "I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste."

FannyMare, while you can separate the Roseanne from real life with the Roseanne from the show, I have a hard time doing so. I simply feel uncomfortable promoting her current work because when ratings come into play, watching is essentially promoting. She can be very funny, and very likable, but she can also be outlandish. It's the same with Seinfeld. I used to watch that program, not regularly but occasionally. When Michael Richards/Kramer went off on stage with a distasteful racial rant, I never watched another rerun. I just could not promote his work. I guess I am using the only voice I have in situations like these? I can see why others might not get the connection, but I happen to.
