Unsolved Mysteries, Volume 2 - another bunch of really interesting (and some sad) cases. I hope they can get closure for some of them.
Dream Home Makeover - not too bad, I liked that they showed a few different styles of homes, at least.
Tremors: Shrieker Island - cheesy SyFy kind of movie.
His House - mix of both real-life and supernatural scary stuff. Pretty good.

Out of moments of sheer boredom last week I decided to watch Emily in Paris and was happily surprised at how wrong I was about it. The marketing agency she works for is very chic with a lot of crazy people, Paris looks beautiful in it, and for a Darren Star production there's lot of diversity. I loved Emily's work life, her workmates, bitchy boss, and friends. The only actor that seems to be a tad miscast is Lily Collins as Emily unfortunately but that could also be the way she is written as most Americans can be a bit obnoxious and pushy. I'm intrigued enough to finish the season and maybe watch the next? because I love the supporting cast.

I didn't want to The Queens Gambit to end. I loved the actress who played Beth. She's up for a second season, because she loves the character so much, but feels like it ended, just right...

I almost don't want a second season because this season was so perfect. Where could they go from there?

Well, if I wasn't already planning to NOT watch Hillbilly Elegy, the reviews would kill any desire to see it. Yikes.

Wow, I've read several sneering reviews of this movie already. The critics seem to hate everything about it - the movie, the source material, Vance's politics. I still plan on watching, I've always liked Amy Adams and Glenn Close (who looks like Grandma Arbuckle from the Garfield cartoons in this movie ). I've disagreed with critics before, so I'll give it a look.

I can't wait. I have it marked on my calendar for Sunday, as if it's going to disappear the day after. I know nothing about this season except that the cast remains the same. Cast age up/change is next season. I'd rather go into it not knowing the events that will be covered. Makes it more interesting to me that way.

For some reason I quit watching Grace & Frankie during the Summer. I quit watching a lot of shows. But I'm back to watching it & am on I think, Episode 8. I just love this show.
I just read that Grace & Frankie will be back for Season 7. It will be the final Season. They're not even filming yet because of COVID. They're planning on resuming filming some time in January. The Season won't air 'till January 2022. That's a year later than usual & what's been their pattern. Apparently they are taking extra precautions because of the pandemic. This is a show where the main cast is all over 80. Extra precautions is a very smart idea.
I just love this show. It always finds a way to make me laugh out loud. Plus it shows that people aren't all washed up in old age. The 4 main cast members and characters are all still vibrant, funny, sharp, driven, and even sexy. I love seeing people this age treated as people with full lives & plenty to offer. So many shows treat them like feeble minded helpless jokes who need to be cared for & watched. I'll be sad to see this show end.

TRIAL 4 is AMAZING. The CORRUPTION in POLICE DEPTS across the country is staggering. This DOCU-SERIES shows the Boston Police Dept in the 70's. If you do watch the SERIES, my hometown of Needham, MA is shown because of the outstanding METCO program where inner city Black children from Boston are bused to the suburbs to get a better education. I love my Needham but yes it is snobby, white and wealthy BUT we were NOT racist and in this series it shows how Needham families come forward to help the WRONGLY ACCUSED. I remember attending Needham High School and the METCO students were AMAZING. We, the students welcomed them. www.imdb.com/title/tt13363298/

So Hubby and I are into Epi 4 of THE CROWN. So far this is the SADDEST season. NO ONE in the ROYAL family is happy. At All. I mean it appears to me that they are all struggling with securing some kind of happiness. Even poor Diana is MISERABLE. I had NO IDEA that Princess Diana suffered with bulimia. Thatcher only favors one of her children AND its noticeable to the one IGNORED child. There is unrest with Northern Ireland, there is a war with Argentina over the ownership of the Falkland Islands. A troubled man NOT ONCE but TWICE breaks into the CASTLE. Margaret seems miserable all the time. Charles is OPENLY cheating on Diana. EVERYONE in the family knows it.

Yeah, Charles is coming off as pretty unlikable this season. I know he was basically forced into the marriage, but come on, man.
Poor Diana was so young when she was thrown into all that craziness. I'm enjoying the actress portraying her, though. And Gillian Anderson as Thatcher, too!

I don't know why they are making everyone so unlikable, I'm not fond of this season so far, even Diana bothers me, she did giggle a lot, but ..I cant explain it. Margaret Thatcher was many things, but the way Gillian Anderson is playing her, seems like a caricature ..actually they all do.

I think that Gillian Anderson's performance is terrible! She is playing Thatcher like an 87 year old woman whose gone through speech and respritory therapy and not the woman she was as prime mininster! They've done a great job on her hair, and she's got the poses down for group pictures. But the voice is terrible!
As for the likability of everyone - I think a lot of that is the premise of the show. It is after all historic fiction and not a biopic. I think it's meant to show the family drama that is created when the family business is being a royal family. I think they nail it often times in Elizabeth when something is pointed out to her that would be terrible for a family, but is "duty" for royalty (example - a few seasons ago when Phillip lamented that people treat elementary aged Charles better than they treat him and Elizabeth says "Yes of course, he'll be king and you won't". It order to let the "duty" play out, they have to do things like showing Charles and Elizabeth thinking it's absurd to take baby William on a tour or Andrew throwing a fit over not being seen the same as Charles. It's duty - not family.
