I’m going to have to watch season 2 again before it comes out. I absolutely love this series.

I haven't seen the original of The Guilty and it sounds like it's better than the remake with Jake Gyllenhaal that's on Netflix right now, but I still think the remake was pretty good. I wouldn't have paid for it in the theater, but I feel like that about most movies.
I will say that it was a really clever way to make a movie during a pandemic with only a few actors appearing on screen and the rest as just voices on the phone.
I've got two more episodes left of Squid Game, but I want to wait until I have time to devote to actually watching it. The dubbing is SO bad and I want to watch the subtitles. I read a really interesting article about the various aspects of the series that Western audiences might have missed. If I can find it again, I'll post it. It was really interesting.

I finished Midnight Mass last night. I found the man who plays the priest so compelling. He is such the reason to watch.

I watched The One; heartbreak and mending and hoping someone goes to prison, but that is for Season 2. sigh

He played a fascinating character in Tell Me Your Secrets, on Amazon Prime if you have it. I hope to see him in a lot more, he really is a great actor. We're halfway through Squid Games and WOW is this a crazy series.

Ooooh. I have to check it out. I looked at his IMD and have never watched anything he has been in. That has to change, I loved his performance.
I think I'm going to have to check out Squid Games next!

Finished up Squid Game today. It was disturbing. But one of those shows that really makes you think. Good twists. Left it open for a 2nd season, would definitely watch.
Oh and the dubbing for English was atrocious. To the point of comical.

Oh and the dubbing for English was atrocious. To the point of comical. I'm mixed on a season 2. I want to see what he will do but I also hate to see a good show ruined. Sometimes, things are better left to the imagination. That said, of course I would watch it!

LOVED Squid Games!!!
I read a few articles with the creator. It took 10 years for him to finally see his product on the screen. He has no thoughts or plans for a season 2. Since he wrote and directed all the episodes he said if he was to do a second season he would hire other writers and directors even though he is not great at team work. It was a long and stressful process and not something he is planning to repeat. Sounds like it took a lot out of him and he is working on other projects.

Second seasons can so often be a let down just like movie sequels. For example, we adored Train to Busan.... we turned off the sequel about 1/2 hour in.

Squid Game: I started watching this thinking it was a Korean version of a Battle Royale but for adults who have a lot of debt but then it took a crazy turn to the left and I could not stop watching; it's very pyschological. People who are buried in debt get an invitation to play "games" for 5 days. There is one game per day, and the people who win get money. If you win all 5 games your debts are paid off and you win a lot of money, while losing at any point has fatal consequences; the first game was a particularly lethal version of "red light, green light" that cut their numbers in half. The series follows certain people and you get to know their motivations and why they would feel like they have no other choice but to do this. I've only watched two episodes but I want to see how it ends, as well as finding out who is the mysterious people behind the Squid Game. We are in the middle of episode 5. Episode 4 was really disturbing. I mean, mouth hanging open disturbing. Be prepared! Finished Episode 4 last night and DAMN. That's all I have to say.

On episode 2 as hubby seems to like this SQUID GAME but geez that first episode was awful. Oh and as Realitychick said the dubbing is atrocious. Not sure how long I will last. I mean if they played GREEN LIGHT RED LIGHT the right way I would have been fine……….but never mind not spoiling it for others who plan to watch but be prepared it’s disturbing. .

They have a character who's clearly at least 60s or 70s and the person dubbing the voice sounds like they're in their 30s. I switched to subtitles and it was MUCH better.

I always prefer subtitles, it keeps me focused on the screen and I love hearing the language and trying to understand certain words. Although I watched a Brazilian show for a couple of seasons, I came out with knowing a curse word. Hopefully by the end of Squid Game I will finally remember the Korean word for 'thank you' which I never can remember!

I agree that the dubbing is laughably bad, they really need to do better with that. Who else has googled the won to USD rate?

momrek06 I've read several articles that say Squid Game has made South Korean won the most googled currency category...45.6 billion won (the prize in the game) is around $38 million US dollars. When they announced the prize in the series the first thing I did was google to see how much it was in dollars.

Dont laugh, but I have really been enjoying The Hardy Boys on Netflix. A good story, good characters. Its set in the late 70s and they did agreat job on casting the characters.

There's a new baking show on Netflix. It is the brainchild of Andrew from GBBS (young, redheaded engineering student from Scotland). The name is Baking Impossible and a new hybrid word - Bakeineering - is the way it proceeds. Teams of two strangers - one a cake/decorator and one an engineer - will make creations that go beyond getting biscuits to stand up. The first challenge was to make a boat propelled by wind from one end of a canal of water to the other in a certain amount of time. Only two teams completed that part. The second part is the cake tasting and one of the judges is a baker while another is an engineer. It is fascinating.
Andrew is just as cute, but I'm not enamored of his attempt at aging with a chin scruff.

I finished Squid Game last night and am not a huge fan, but I’m squeamish about blood and gore. I would be surprised if they don’t make at least one more season since it has a huge following. But like everyone else, I think they need to do something about the dubbing. So bad. Fun fact: they’re going to edit the phone number on the card because it’s someone’s actual number and they’ve been swamped with calls! 🤣

For me another part of the show was peeling back the layers on these characters, who at first are just "numbers" but eventually are names and some you come to care for a lot.
