I'm half way through the third episode. For me it is a slog, but I'll get there. Part of this series; and season 1 is only 6 episodes long, is the focus on the mental health of the character which tends to override the good guy bad guy conflict. I do appreciate that the writing team is really trying to get the audience to see and feel the total mental confusion that Steven Grant is going through. But focusing this much on that aspect of the story does tend to slow down the other parts of the plot.

Encanto - what a nice film - unexpected - fun. I saw that this weekend and loved it...but man, did I cry! I must say that I fought getting Disney + because I should be writing papers and doing schoolwork but my sweetspot in viewing entertainment is Pixar films. I finally saw Turning Red and I loved that too. Wandavision???? Oh, that was so good and really had me guessing.

Moon Knight - Season 1 Episode 6 - season finale - May 4, 2022
The season finale drops today, the ending maybe a bit confusing. Watch the credits there is an extra scene that explains a bit more.

Moon Knight - Season 1 Episode 6 - season finale - May 4, 2022 The season finale drops today, the ending maybe a bit confusing. Watch the credits there is an extra scene that explains a bit more. I just finished the show. Most confusing thing I think I have ever seen. Still have no idea what it was about. I enjoy all of these Marvel series but this is my least favorite and it isn’t even close. Two plots. Plot 1: Egyptians gods withdrew physically from the planet Earth. They are only supposed to observe what is going on our planet using human avatars. However in this case the goddess Ammit is using her human avatar Arthur Harrow to prejudge human souls before they do evil and eat them to make herself stronger. Konshu, the Egyptian god of the moon and justice is philosophically opposed this as he enacts justice on humans after they commit the crime/evil. Plot 2: Konshu's avatar is Marc Spector. Due the traumatic death of his younger brother resulting in his mother developing a mental illness and beating Marc as a child and Marc's quilt over his brother's death he suffered a split personality. What the series deals with a lot is what is happening to Marc's other personality, Steven Grant. In episode 4, 5, and 6 you see a lot of scenes inside Marc's head or perhaps it is a combination other dimension as Arthur Harrow has access to it. The very last scene in the credits of episode 6 reveals that there is actually a third personality, Jake Lockley that neither Marc or Steven are aware of. The beginning graphics of the series show Moon Knight with 3 faces, so that was a huge Easter Egg. Overall the show was an interesting take on the standard superhero with a serious mental illness, dealing with more of the supernatural and potentially having the main characters be present in other dimensions while their physical bodies are still back on Earth. There was also Arthur Harrow playing with Marc and Steven on a physic plane trying to break him. The overall look and feel of the show is fantastic and I totally loved the Goddess Taweret (the one with the Hippo head) she rocked. Oscar Isaac who played Moon Knight/Marc/Steven was brilliant in his multiple roles.

I am really getting into Encore...Oh MY! Expecting someone to rehearse in 5 days takes courage, especially when it's been 10 or 35 years since their original performance. But, to hear their stories, and feel so happy for them to succeed is awesome. I love all of the directors, choreographers and especially musical directors (Adam Wachter is my Favorite). Moments of triumph for adults, who not only struggled thru teen years, but also sometimes beyond. Watching them find closure with their past, and hope for their future is inspiring. Loved Beauty and the Beast, Sound of Music, Grease, oh, all of them!!!! I'm looking forward to Ragtime coming up next. I couldn't help but binge watch them.
If you ever get a free trial, or want to pay $7.99 for one month, I recommend Encore!

For anyone that may be considering cutting the cable, if you subscribe to Hulu Live you also get Disney+ & ESPN+ thrown in. Hulu Live is pretty sweet. I get all my local channels & all the channels I ever watched without all those shopping channels. And it is still cheaper than cable.

Encore: Anything Goes! (Episode 11 ) My absolute favorite, hands down! Last performed 44 years ago, the cast of now seniors(60+) gave such a charming and memorable performance. Because of a cast absence, Kenny (who only had a 3 word 'ensemble' speaking part in the original), was given the main character part of Moonface. Imagine being in your 60’s and having to learn a huge speaking/singing part in just a couple of days!
Directors gave the 'pro millennial' Captain a manifest (with the script in it), so that he could call out lines if requested. Yes, there were a few ad lib's, and line flubs, which charmingly, provided comic relief. The singing was just the best! The audience loved it, I loved it, everyone had fun, and the professional team was awesome!
Also, enjoyed their singing 'audition' of Lady Marmalade (Patti LaBelle version).

Obi Won was a bit confusing as I am used to new shows dropping on Wednesday not Friday.
Episode 1 and 2 premiered on Friday but Episode dropped on Wednesday so I guess it was just a move for people to watch.
What is the big hoopla about all this "hate" twitter and Instagram Moses Ingram is getting? Didn't everyone get over that after all the hate on Daisy Riley for being a female Jedi and main character, for John Boyega being African, and Rose for being Asian in the Last Jedi films its been almost three years since the last film released.

I think it is because she is a vicious, heartless villain and very good at it. She makes me want to throw something at the TV.

Same for me razorbacker! I love the casting, KaMAHla was the perfect blend of sweet, innocent, & perky; and Bruno (a young Neil Patrick Harris in the making), compliments her beautifully. Delightful family. Looking forward to episode 2.

Just stopping by to say I really enjoyed the premiere episode of Ms. Marvel & am looking forward to seeing where it goes. The premiere was not what I expected the target audience might be preteen? I was kinda disappointed. I do think episode 2 is better and I am getting used to all of the unicorns, and other imaginary creatures, and effects happening over the episode.

Obi Won Kenobi - 5 episodes in and 1 to go.
I am very surprised that the writers chose to go the route they did with Obi Won showing him a totally broken man. As a warrior, as a general he must have seen so much that is bad, messy, unfair, and unjust that it surprises me that the death of his apprentice even 10 years later affects him so.
Leia is a total brat.
The problem with Star Wars is that the source material was so lacking and so ingrained in many people minds that it can be hard to elevate it.
Whenever I have seen Star War marathons of the Anakin's life and you watch one movie right after another there was so much potential to really make this a moving epic trilogy and then you hear that George Lucas told the actors to tone it done and be unemotional it really sucks.
What is amusing that at such a young age it is obvious that Leia is the stronger twin, the smarter twin, yet Luke gets all the credit because he was the Jedi.

Just because other people like something doesn't mean someone can't dislike it AND that their opinion isn't valid. Everyone is falling all over themselves about all the new SW movies/series and I think they're terrible, at least the ones I've seen. IMO, there are only 3 SW movies. The end. I like JJ Abrams, but he ruined Star Wars.
I'm happy for those who enjoy The Mandalorian, but I'll be giving it and Disney+ a hard pass. Just not interested.
I do think much of the problem with Star Wars is that when George Lucas wrote the original film I don't think he thought it would spawn the franchise it did, that is was a one of and he really didn't world build enough in the first movie for it to really sustain the expansion of that world. The story is a stripped down fairy tale and is a showcase for special effects and new film technology. Nothing wrong with that as it was an incredible experience for people at the time. From articles I have read as each new film was released Lucas would go off by himself to create the script again injecting my opinion that was needed for the film with maybe not really thinking past immediate concerns. As a result Star Wars very much like the Terminator series got stuck and just repeats itself and nothing happens, nothing changes, and as a viewer I get frustrated with the storylines and the writing. As a result you get The Last Jedi, Return of the Jedi, and Revenge of the Sith. JJ Abrams did a great job rebooting Star Trek so they tapped him to do the same for Star Wars. You see the trailers, you start to have hope of something great and you have that whinny little pus Ben, Han and Leia's son. The trilogy goes downhill from there. When they released the trailers for The Last Jedi, and showed John Boyega and bits of Daisy Ridley, I was thinking wow, black stormtrooper that's a switch and a female jedi and then you think aha two jedi. Then there seemed to be that undercurrent of romance between the two characters, which did come across as forced which went no where. There was so much potential and it felt as if JJ Abrams caved from the pressure of the boy fans who want nothing changed. It reminded me so much of the friction between rabid fans of the original Battlestar Galactica series and the gritty reboot. I appreciated the original but luv'ed the reboot because it was gritty and mired in much more real experiences and had great writing, great world building, and knew where it was going. There is room for both series. This is one of the reasons I probably don't get that excited over the Mandolorian.

Three episodes in on Ms. Marvel and it is getting better, introducing new mythology such as jinn creatures from another dimension.
I really will hate it if Bruno does not accept that advanced placement for the college he applied to, it is such an opportunity for him and if the writers make him do it for L O V E, I will be totally disgusted it is such a tried plotline.

Wow, I do wish that Disney would make these shows, Moon Knight, Obi Won Kenobi, and Ms. Marvel a bit longer than 6 episodes, it seems too short. Ms. Marvel - had it's finale this week. I was looking forward to seeing this version as the Ms. Marvel I knew was Carol Danvers in a skintight black thigh high boots and a skinsuit from the 80's. I did not like the first two episodes as it came across very young, not a YA (young adult) series but one for elementary kids or younger. The series improved for me episode 3 and grew on me. I do like shows were I learn about history and world events. I never knew anything about the way that India was divided into India and Pakistan and the problems it caused between the Muslims and Hindus. It was also refreshing to see into Kamala's community and see into the mosque and how the community was organized. One of the best community scenes was watching Kamala's friend, Nakia Bahadir, get voted into being part of the mosque civilian administrators, a girl and a teenager at that. Take that patriarchal society. Overall I enjoyed the series and hope for a season 2.

Evidently the two characters will be together in a new movie called The Marvels. She Hulk is up next & it is a bit longer. 9 episodes. Tatiana Maslany is always worth watching.

For some reason I thought it was going to be released on Friday. Very good first episode, wish it was longer then 30 minutes. The best part was the training Bruce was giving Jessica about controlling her anger and she stated that is what women have to live with and control all their lives unlike men.

Way to confuse people.
