so picking up last episode. Randalls 3 driving to a fancy place (Kevin;s) I am assuming . Desja pregnant, who are they going to see? Is beth gone> What is going on? That scene was a fast forward about 10 years into the future. We already saw them there last season at Kevin's house that he built according to his father's drawing. Rebecca is there on her deathbed with Nicky sitting next to her. We saw that, too. Beth is in the house.

Has anyone else been watching this season? I gave up on this show a long time ago, only occasionally catching an episode or so. But supposedly, according to the TV Promos, this is the Finale Season, so I figured I'd watch to see how it all shakes out. Big mistake! This has been the most boring season with the most unlikable characters & worst storylines yet. I'm not sure if last Tuesday's show was the Grand Finale. It's been promoted that way. But calling it boring or a letdown would be a gross understatement. Definitely not a worthy wrap up or finale for any show. When I look at my TV listings for the next few weeks, they show an episode on Tuesday, June 7. No description or origin date for the episode, so I have no idea if it's another new one or a repeat. Anyhow, for a group of likable & interesting characters, they turned into a group of unlikable & boring characters who haven't grown or progressed at all during the entire course of the series. If anything, they just got worse. The only ones I grew to like at all were: Miguel, and he just became background wallpaper. Only 1 episode that gave him any time & nearly all of that was childhood stuff. I wanted more. Toby, the only one with any character growth & an all around good guy. But self serving, self absorbed, all-about-me Kate henpecked the poor guy into oblivion to the point where she had HIM apologizing. Then the show gave HER a new husband/victim. Came out of nowhere & married her, and we were expected to be happy for the "happy couple". Randall, and his whole family stayed boring as old oatmeal. Kevin, still never grew up, but now has a few children from women he clearly never planned to stay with. Nicky was another one who actually had some personal growth. He became a pretty good guy, but really, did anyone watching really care? Many storylines were dropped along with many promising characters. The whole season dragged painfully. I feel like I wasted a whole season of Tuesday night episodes. If it is over, I'm glad. Good riddance.

I cried through the episode titled, Miguel. The episode on the train was so well done, that should of been the finale. The finale was last week, I watched , but used the FF on most of it. Kevin had his nonprofit, Kate had her music classes for the blind, and Randall was what, going to be president? ..I loved Nicky, and I loved seeing William again.

ITA with everything you posted, MissScarlet. I stopped watching several seasons ago because it just got so tedious. NONE of the characters had any growth at all - it was the same behavior over and over. They were mean to each other and so self-involved. I also got bored with the narrative device of the past and future and the delayed reveal of various events. It was good at first, but then it just started to feel emotionally manipulative. I tuned in for the last few minutes of the finale and didn't see anything that made me wish I'd kept watching.

Kevin had his nonprofit, Kate had her music classes for the blind, and Randall was what, going to be president? ..I loved Nicky, and I loved seeing William again. I loved the "Miguel" episode, too, Fanny. It was about time he was showcased. I also agree with you that the train episode should have been the finale. I was underwhelmed by the actual final episode. I'm on the fence about whether or not I will miss this show. In some ways, yes, and in some ways, no. What's funny is that I did a complete turn around with regard to how I feel about some of the characters. In the beginning I adored Randall and hated Kevin. I thought Kevin was just so mean to his brother and just a pain in the neck. But I grew to love Kevin as the series continued and I DO think he has shown a lot of growth. Kate I could never stand and it hasn't changed how I feel about her character. She was spoiled by her dad, resented her mom's beauty, talent, and svelte figure. Only after she became a mother did she grow closer to Rebecca. Jack was a flawed character but he came from a very dysfunctional home and he wanted to do better for his family. Did he make mistakes? Absolutely! But no one is perfect. I think we were supposed to think in the very beginning that Jack was a saint, but the show did a good job of showing how he was just human and had failings, like all of us. The alcoholism was something tough for him but he did try to beat it. Randall became insufferable as the series continued. I understand he had a savior complex, but he couldn't save the world. While I was glad he got to know his bio dad William for a short while, when he quit his job and moved his entire family to Philly and bought that apartment building is when I started to dislike him. Then his running for councilman, which wow, he was on the national radar and became a Senator. Yeah, okay. I hated the entire Deja storyline. I understand the why of it and why he felt compelled to adopt her. However, this was done to the expense of Tess and Annie, who we hardly got to know. I could have cared less about the teen romance of Deja and Malik. Give me more of adorable Annie! And Tess had that interesting LGBTQ storyline that was just dropped. Back to Kate... she's got a special needs child and her pregnancy was super dangerous, but she feels compelled to adopt Haley. We never saw much of Haley after that. And the entire dissolution of her marriage to Toby felt retconned. Toby was trying his best working in SF during the week, and flying back to LA for the weekend. And all Kate did was complain. He was doing well, had friends and was respected at his job, and even found a beautiful home for them to live in. And yet, Kate refused to even consider moving. Her job as an assistant at the school probably paid peanuts. And they never explained how when that teacher retired, how all of a sudden she was able to get that teaching job teaching music to blind students. She'd barely gotten her Associate's degree later in life and now all of a sudden she's qualified to teach? Don't even get me started in the flash forward about how she's this huge superstar innovator and flying to London with her innovative new curriculum. Puh lease! Can you tell I just despised her? And yeah, Philip Mean Jerk just was so crazy in love with her? What sparkling personality did she have? I love Beth. Loved her. I will miss her and her little witty comments muttered under her breath and her banter with Randall. Rebecca was wonderful throughout. I hope she gets some Emmy love, but it's not likely.

I agree with everything you said ECM, everything. You are right on the money, about everyone. The finale really was boring for us,it became the Randall and Deja show. I could watch the train episode again, and Miguel's episode. This past season, was some of the best episodes for me. I wish we had seen more of grown up Jack, he had a wonderful voice.

I agree with most of what you guys have been saying about each of the characters and their flaws, and I wish there had been a lot less of Randall and Deja, but all in all, I kept in mind that these characters and their storylines were fictional, and so I was able to look past their flaws and the circumstances of their lives.
I just loved the show from the very first episode all the way through to the end, and I'll miss it very much. And I'll especially miss Jack and Rebecca, whose love story just warmed my heart.

I have never liked Kate. She always came across as whiney and entitled to me.

I was amazed at how much I cried during the Miguel episode. I was not expecting to be that emotional over Miguel. My paternal grandfather dies about a year before my Grandmother. She had mobility issues and mild dementia. He spent his last few years helping her and doing a lot more of the "woman's work" than he would have normally done. Miguel helping Rebecca at the end of his life while his own health was failing reminded me of that.
As a fat daughter of a not fat mom, I have always sympathized with Kate. I know there are a lot of viewers that cannot stand her. I hated what happened with teenaged Kate with that Marc guy. Teenage girls have so much of their self esteem wrapped up in their body image in the first place, And pre-Marc, pre fire Kate did have a more healthy self esteem.
I am OK with the finale as an aftermath of Rebecca's death. I knew it would not be like the usual episode with big reveals and clues and such. I am glad they didn't just leave it at Rebecca's death.

I liked Kate, especially as a teen, and she carried so much of her past, into her marriage to Toby I didn't expect to sob through Miguel's episode, but that' was the beauty of this show...Rebecca was lucky to have two men love her ,as much as they did.

I stopped watching this show at the start of season 5 , it was too emotional for me. I just binged season 5 and 6 and finished the last episode. Wow. I loved the episode about Miguel and "The Train" was possibly one of the best episodes if not the best of the series. I love that William was leading Rebecca to the end and that she was waiting on Kate.
I was never a fan of Toby but was surprised to see how Kate and he broke up. I didn't buy the Kate and Phillip storyline; it did not seem to flow. Kevin always was an awful character to me, but I did like that he and Sophie finally ended up together. Madison grew on me and I was rooting for her and Kevin, but I'm glad she got someone that adored her. Kevin grew into a good father. Love that Randall will be a grandfather to a baby named after his father. Loved Nicky's storyline and glad he got a happy end. I only wish we found out what happened to Annie and Tess and the other grandkids other than Jack.
I like that the last episode was just about a lazy nothing Saturday, the little things that are the big meaningful things at the end.
