Well that was pretty low-key for a season finale. The best parts were Daryl and everyone playing in the snow at the end and Negan going out to save Judith and Dog. Oh, and his smartass comments about the baby daddy situation. I hated to see the Kingdom fall...they really tried. Michonne was right, though - Alpha walked among them so easily because the communities didn't know each other. And while I get why Ezekiel tried to tell Daryl to go away so he could rebuild his relationship with Carol, he was wrong for saying it. Daryl is OG, he's not going anywhere. I'm still on the Carol/Daryl bandwagon, and I'll die on this hill. So, who was that on the radio at the end - Maggie? Jadis? And there was no snow on the Whisperers at the end - do they migrate south for the winter?

I read an article from Reedus about how mind blowing this season finale would be. Didn't see it. What did I miss???

I read where several were saying it was the worst season finale for any season of the show.

This sounds like something that would be on the CW channel. There has already been enough annoying characters on the original walking dead show such as Beth and Henry. -A third walking dead show is coming. ew.com/tv/2019/04/08/walking-dead-amc-third-series

They're going to burn everyone out with all these spinoffs and crossovers. I'll watch the "Rick movies" but probably skip the teen spinoff. And I gave up on Fear the Walking Dead after they killed Madison.

I'll be watching the spin-off and I still watch Fear, which had a pretty great season last year, even without Madison. I don't see how you can get "The CW" out of that description, unless it's merely because the two leads are female Plenty of shows with female leads that aren't on that one network. I'm all for strong female leads and we certainly see those on WD. I'd rather watch and decide for myself. I thought the finale was terrific. I thought this whole season was terrific. More character development was sorely needed. This isn't a video game. I want to see more than people killing zombies. I'm thrillled that Norman Reedus has finally gotten more to do than mumble and scowl and I'm glad they're finally (hopefully) bringing all of the characters back together. I hated them all in separate "camps." I'm looking forward to next season. Now if they'd only cut Carol's hair and give Michonne a better look too. I found their wigs distracting this season.

The season finale of The walking dead was alright for a regular season type of episode, but I don't think it should have been the finale. I would have liked to have seen a more intense episode. Rick is missed. I look forward to them moving on from all these different home bases.
I thought season 3 of Fear the walking dead was a lot better than season 4. There was a lot more going on in general. Nick was one of the best characters on the show imo. Too bad he wanted to leave, Morgan and him could have had an interesting dynamic.
The CW is known for teen angst types of shows. I think they should have done this new spinoff earlier on when the ratings were better.

Are they still going to do that movie with Rick and some others?

My favorite part of the premiere was Carol and Daryl with the friendship bracelet and talk of running away (do it! ). Carol was pretty cold to poor Ezekiel when she got off the boat, though. Damn. Least favorite - Rosita and that love triangle/square whatever the hell is going on with her and the guys. Just not interested. And the satellite falling was odd. At least Eugene has some stuff to play with now. Alpha's not going to let the trespassing slide...

OMG, Negan chattering away and annoying Beta is one of my favorite things ever on this show. Right up there with Michonne and Judith kicking a$$ and killing walkers with matching kitanas. I truly hope that the Whisperers/Negan story goes the way of the novels. I NEED to see that! Both Jaime King and Sinbad on the same episode of TD was far too much crazy energy. Norman Reedus voiced and modeled for a new video game and they keep airing the commercials during WD episodes. It's really weird. The character says something like, "My name is Sam Porter" and I'm like, "NO IT ISN'T!"

I truly hope that the Whisperers/Negan story goes the way of the novels. I NEED to see that! I really, really hope they follow the novels on that one. It would make an excellent mid-season cliffhanger. Negan was killing me this episode - "Beta with benefits"? What a goof.

It would make an excellent mid-season cliffhanger. Negan was killing me this episode - "Beta with benefits"? What a goof. You could tell JDM was having so much fun with Negan's dialogue in this episode. He and Ryan Hurst have been friends for a long time and you could tell he was having a ball.
They've changed some plot points from the books over the years, but the general direction of the story has remained. I hope that holds this time because I'd love to see it.
Wondering how they're going to bring Maggie back. I've missed her. Oddly enough, I don't really miss Rick. Those last few seasons with him were such a muddled mess. Since Angela Kang took over, the show has been so much better. Cleaner storytelling and actual dialogue. In some episodes over the last season or so, Daryl's had more dialogue than he did in the entirety of seasons 7 and 8 (two terrible seasons, IMO).
I'm still shipping Carol and Daryl, but I sort of love his relationship with Connie. Plus, Lauren Ridloff is so incredible. I'd love to see her finally break through Daryl's wall, so to speak.
I don't know what's going on with Siddig, but Avi Nash is SOOOO pretty that I actually don't care.
I don't think they'd do it, but every time Dog is in an episode, I think, "They'd better not kill that dog." My heart can't take it.

This has been such a good season, and then THAT episode happened. Siddiq was not supposed to die, dammit. Carl died helping him (he shouldn't have been killed off, either) - what a waste of two good, main characters. And now Dante is a plant for Alpha? How did he even get in there, with nobody being suspicious of him? And why is he still Team Whisperer after living the good life (or what passes for it in this world) in Alexandria? Pff. I'm not buying it. The best thing about this mess of an episode was shirtless Daryl with Dog. And Avi Nash on Talking Dead (so gorgeous, even with all that hair cut off).

Carol and Daryl are meant to be together. Their names rhyme, for pete's sake!! What more of a sign do you need?
I don't miss Rick at all, either. The things he did didn't make sense and often got his group in more trouble. They're better off without him.
It would be a weird twist if Negan ends up becoming leader of the Hilltop. I hated him at first but I've gotten to like him more and more. I want to see him take Alpha down!! Introduce her to Lucille already.

I'm not buying it. The best thing about this mess of an episode was shirtless Daryl with Dog. And Avi Nash on Talking Dead (so gorgeous, even with all that hair cut off). RIGHT!? I knew as soon as I saw the little preview for TD near the end of the WD episode that Siddiq was toast because Avi had cut his hair. First they kill Jesus (and sorry, but Tom Payne just is not as hot with short hair on Prodigal Son, which is a show I do really like) and now Siddiq. I need some eye candy!
Speaking of Talking Dead, it was so fun to see Chandler. He's doing a great job on A Million Little Things, but I still sort of see that little freckle-faced boy with the bowl haircut. He's such a talented kid. I was thrilled to see him get another job after leaving WD
Even though Norman Reedus is looking a bit rough lately (those rumors of alcohol abuse aren't hard to believe based on how he looks compared to the early seasons of WD), there are moments when I'm reminded that he did used to be a model.
I knew there was something off about Dante from the start. He just didn't seem normal. That weird bro-flirting with Siddiq? It was like he didn't know how to talk to people. I wasn't surprised at all that he's a Whisperer. I do hope someone takes him out SOON and I hope it's Rosita who does the honors.
Every time there's a commercial or preview where Carol says, "Bitch has got to die." I get a little giddy. I love her so much. She definitely does need to die
I wonder if Beta's storyline will play out the way it does in the books. I want the reveal of who he was to be the same because it's just so cool. Plus, I love Ryan Hurst so much that I really want to see him without his skin mask!

I think the battle with Negan and the Saviors went on a little long, but that it was one of the most intense storylines and probably the most memorable villain on the show, besides maybe the Governor. I don't know what happens with some of the characters in the comics, but I'm tempted to look it up. lol

In the books, didn't Dante get with Maggie after a while? He was supposed to be a crude, awkward jerk...but not a stupid Whisperer. Yeah, I'm still mad about Siddiq. I think Alpha is the scariest villain they've had to date. She makes the Governor look like a punk. I've softened towards Negan, but man, I hated him back when he took out Glenn and Abraham (I still refuse to rewatch that episode). Here's baby Norman Reedus for anyone interested :

Got caught up on the most recent episode. You can usually tell when a more minor character is about to be killed off cause they tend to get more airtime than they usually do. Rosita's boyfriends aren't faring that well on this show.

Well I guess we don't have to worry about Dante being up to no good anymore since Gabriel went wild on his ass. Poor Rosita, having to take out zombie Siddiq. That was awful. Besides Gabriel going off, that was a pretty low-key finale for mid season. I guess they were just setting up the Carol vs. Alpha showdown (and some upcoming new people...).

What are they doing to Carol?! She's gone from stoic badass to a weepy, erratic mess. Not happy with what they're doing to my favorite character. As for the two trapped in the cave, Magda can get squashed for all I care. Connie's okay, but I'm not really attached to her (I think she'll be fine, though). Glad they didn't kill Jerry, I was worried for a minute. Then we had Negan and Alpha. I have no words. I do hope his praying mantis/beheading comment is foreshadowing and they go the comic book route on that storyline...

I do hope his praying mantis/beheading comment is foreshadowing and they go the comic book route on that storyline... I like Connie (don't really care about Magna), but I care more about how her death would affect Carol and Daryl's relationship than anything else. I like Lauren Ridloff, but she's already poised for a big movie career with Eternals releasing later in the year. My hunch is that maybe Connie will survive, but Magna won't Hope this doesn't turn into a Glenn under the dumpster situation and we do find out next week if there were survivors. Not thrilled with how Carol's letting her emotions control her. In that world, you just cannot do that. It's frustrating, because after SO much loss, she should be steeled to it by now. Maybe the argument is that losing Henry was just her breaking point. I never liked Henry, so that doesn't seem like "enough" for me.
I love how the internet is going crazy over how Negan and Alpha left their socks on vs. her leaving the skin mask on People are weird. All I could think was that he JUST fell in a pit of human excrement and there are no showers Definitely want the show to follow the comics, at least with respect to the outcome. IIRC, Negan and Alpha didn't actually do the deed in the comics.
I freaking love Cooper Andrews! The fact that he threw in a Buffy reference on TD just made me love him more.
Those scenes in the cave, especially when Jerry was stuck, had me freaking out. That's one of my biggest fears.
On TD, they said that this was the first time they'd ever really talked much about Carol being claustrophobic, but that's not true. She said she was back in s1e6 when they were at the CDC. She started getting nervous when Jenner told them that they were going underground and then said (I think) "a little" to the question about whether she was claustrophobic. I watch this show too much

While clearly Beta (and Alpha and the rest of the Whisperers) has to die, him emerging from the grave was pretty freaking great and scary as hell. I love Ryan Hurst so much. I hope in his next role, we can see his face! I do hope that they reveal Beta's backstory before he dies. It's pretty cool. Argh! No Carol OR Negan this week. WTH!? Apparently, Connie and Magna are trapped under that dumpster

Magna can stay under that dumpster. Who is this guy and what did he do with Father Gabriel? Talking about chopping fingers off and poking out eyes or something...damn. This week's show was more like a horror movie. I like it!

This week's show was more like a horror movie. I like it! Right? Of the group of characters she came with, she's the one I care about the least.
Gabriel's definitely had a wild character arc! From Mr. Cowering in Church and not killing anything, to Mr. Kill 'Em All is pretty crazy.
I don't want EVERY episode to have that same horror feel, but I really enjoyed this one. Beta is terrifying. Kudos to Rosita for holding her own! Girl went full Mama Bear. Christian Serratos kicked butt in those scenes.
I love Samantha Morton, but I really don't want Alpha on this show for much longer. IMO, the show doesn't work if the Big Bad stays on the scene long term. They show up, wreak havoc, take out some of "our" people and then they're done. I think the argument could be made that Negan being a bad guy is about perception (ie. if we'd followed The Saviors from the beginning, maybe Rick's group would look like the bad guys). I don't think the same can be said of Alpha. They can probably (maybe?) integrate some of the Whisperers into their group, but Alpha AND Beta need to go.
On TD, they were talking about how easy it should be to turn the Whisperers. Air conditioning? Hot showers? Sign me up!

I'm already crying and the episode isn't even over yet. This ear is going to be really bad. They're making it look like Ezekial is a goner, which has me worried. Will they do a bait and switch and kill Carol instead? She's the #1 person on my Do Not Kill list. I can't imagine watching the show without her. Daryl is my #2. They did give both Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride big raises when Andy Lincoln left, but that doesn't mean they won't get killed off. Even though it looks like Negan has gone over to the dark side, I refuse to believe he really has. He loves Judith and I don't believe he would do anything to hurt her. Connie and Magna need to get out from under that d@mned dumpster! Maybe they'll come riding to the rescue in the middle of the battle? I'm thinking Lydia and or Mary may die fighting against Alpha in some way. This episode had lots of great little intimate scenes: Carol and Lydia, Carol and Zeke, Carola and Daryl, Daryl with Zeke and then with Judith. It's going to make any losses hurt even more. I already feel sick about what's coming

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ezekiel and Alpha sitting on the Talking Dead couch next week. Or maybe Gabriel. Poor Ezekiel's been living on borrowed time anyway - and Carol giving him one last romp just seemed like goodbye. Negan's still on our side, he tried to get Alpha to capture and convert everyone instead of killing them (but she'd rather have them in her zombie herd). He knew damn well nobody in the group would join the Whisperers but he was trying to save them. I know Samantha Morton has played all kinds of roles, but wow, she really can play the hell out of a scary sociopath. I both can't wait to see and don't want to watch next week's episode...

That was awesome! From Negan and Carol teaming up to take Alpha down, to Judith saving the day (and that sweet moment with Daryl at the end - she's really still a little girl) it was so satisfying!
Mary went out a hero, protecting her nephew. Magna is alive and Connie might be too - she needs to get out from under that dumpster already!
Beta's identity storyline from the comics might show up as well!
The only bummer is the cancellation (postponement?) of this week's Talking Dead. I was really looking forward to seeing Tom Payne and I suspect Samantha Morton was one of the "surprise guests." I wish they would have gone ahead without a studio audience. It doesn't feel like I've truly watched WD until I watch it a second time after watching TD!

I haven't yelled at the TV that loud in a while. Every time Negan got close to Alpha as they were walking to the cabin, I kept saying "Now, do it NOW!" Negan didn't disappoint - but when did he and Carol hatch this plan?? Carol's smile as Negan nonchalantly plopped Alpha's head on the ground was perfect. Beta did NOT want his face revealed...and he's going to go off the rails when he finds out about Alpha. When they showed Magna dragging in, I thought she'd turned. Disappointed to see her alive. Is next week Michonne's last episode?
