Yes! I was so happy to see Justin doing so well. He must be our reward for suffering through this season of nothingness. I do hope he gets to have some more skin removal surgery in the future...I love Dr. Now to pieces, but he's no plastic surgeon. Maja, on the other hand...ugh. She spent the first hour whining about "Chrisshuuunn!" and the second half blaming Dr. Now and her family for her lack of progress. Crying about how hard you're supposedly working doesn't make it so. That last shot of her with her relatives - who are now responsible for keeping her on the diet, according to Maja - had me rolling. Welcome home, here's some cake! Yeah, that's going to work out really well.

Brianne - I was impressed by her weight loss, but I wanted to just reach out and give her a hug after her husband called her in the hospital as she was recovering and told her he didn't love her anymore and was seeing someone else. What a monumental a-hole. I hope she's still doing well.
Annjeannette - still isn't worth a damn. Gained 62 lbs. and when Dr. Now asked what's going on, she snips "You tell me!" Then she runs after her ex when she found out that she landed a good paying job. Psh. I hope Erica dumps her again, she was nothing but a slave before.

Angie J - what in the name of Jerry Springer was THAT mess? They spent about 22 seconds on weight loss and diet, and the rest of the show was her yelling at people who were helping her, making up panic attacks/heart trouble/cancer/robberies so she can get her hands on some more opioids and benzos, and demanding apologies from Dr. Now for accusing her of being high...while she was high. I try to root for these people, but she's just manipulative garbage. And we get two more hours of her next week.

I'm glad she finally did get it together enough to go to rehab and lose weight, but MAN, what a mess! That guy at the rehab played her like a fiddle. She never admitted to taking ANYTHING before that, but he had her singing a whole list of drugs within minutes! You know he's totally used to dealing with addicts and their big bag of bs. Have we ever seen someone apologize to Dr. Now THAT many times? You'd think that after, say, the second time, she would have learned that maybe he does know more than she does. Also, have we ever seen someone run through THREE men? Good grief. You knew that second one was skeezy. What kind of "boyfriend" would make someone he cared about live in the park? Maybe James is a good guy, but she seems like a user. She just needed a place to stay. As soon as she decided to go back home, I'll bet she didn't even think about him at all.

YESSS that rehab counselor clocked her right when she walked in, thinking she was some kind of snarky badass. He had her laying out ALL her mess on the table in a few minutes. Amazing how she kept finding another guy to yell at right after the previous one dumped her butt. I don't know about that second guy, maybe he was violating his lease letting her stay, or he insisted she quit with the drugs in his house...who knows. I highly doubt her "living in the park" story. She slept in her wheelchair? How'd she charge her phone? I really try to cheer these people on, but I couldn't care less about Angie. She's just so unlikable and horrible to everyone around her.

I'm just now watching last week's Where Are They Now? update episode and OMG, talk about night and day. It was SO refreshing to finally see someone succeed! Brandon did everything Dr. Now asked of him and more. It's so nice to see someone reach their goals after doing what Dr. Now told him to do! The people who failed should watch his story. I'd love to see an update in another year to see his wedding and the results of his skin surgery. OTOH Jeanne did nothing but whine and NOT do what Dr. Now told her to do. First she talks about how she's glad her father died, but then she uses his death (and anything else she can think of) as an excuse for why she didn't lose weight.....and then talks about how she doesn't think she needs therapy I was so glad there's no smell-o-vision. That house is horrifying. I didn't want to pause and look more closely, but I'm pretty sure that was dog crap all over the floor. And her mother had DOG HAIR and dirt in her incision? What is wrong with their people. "Dirty birds" doesn't even come close. I have a feeling she won't survive another year.

Ack, I forgot about the dog hair and crud in her incision. How could you not keep a fresh wound clean? Do these people never shower? Yuck. And yes, she was indeed sweeping up dog poop on the floor. *gag*
Tonight is the season finale.

Cillas was almost unrecognizable at the end. He was bedbound and unable to walk, and now he's at a healthy weight and able to do everything he wants. So happy for him. But...that wedding! Getting married at the kitchen table in hoodies and baseball caps with a 2 liter of Mountain Dew by your side isn't what I'd call a memorable wedding. Put a little effort in, people. Tiffany was just a waste of time. No effort, no weight loss, too much whining about that boyfriend who was checked out the entire time. Everyone but Tiffany could see he was going to bail on her. At least she had a job at the end, so there's that. *shrug*

I was so happy for Cilas. He really proved, like Brandon last week, that if you listen to Dr. Now, you'll lose the weight. He really was nearly unrecognizable in those end scenes at the zoo. I had the same thoughts about that "wedding." Super classy. I mean, you don't have to rent the Ritz Carlton, but put on a clean shirt and take the freaking Mountain Dew off the table Yep, Tiffany was a total waste of time. What is it with these women? They ALL think they know better than Dr. Now and none of them do. Both she and Jeanne were so flushed everywhere they went that I was sure they would keel over. I don't know why a doctor telling you that you'll die soon if you don't lose weight isn't a motivator. Heck, being on national TV and not losing weight should be a motivator!

Well, that's one more who didn't make it. I had to look back at this thread to remember her. She was another one who Dr. Now gave chance after chance, but who never did anything. She was also the one who treated her poor wife like a servant and was mad that she couldn't get fast food every day instead of home cooking (and no, that's not backwards)

Yikes, I remember her - they treated her wife like trash and her own family had to yell at her to bathe because she smelled so bad. I didn't think she'd ever get on track, but 30 is just SO young.

Didn't her wife finally leave? I hope I'm remembering that correctly. She was terrible. Sorry to speak ill of the dead, but she was not pleasant to be around. I remember that they made her bathe because she smelled. I wish future participants would look at all the people who've been on this show and then died and maybe take it as a wake-up call, but I doubt they will. They all seem to believe that they're different. I think they all just believe that THEY won't die. That they can just keep eating and gaining more and more weight, but the bill will never come due.

I read that they had split up a while back, so she got away from that insanity.
I wish that future participants would stop thinking they know better than the doctors trying to help them. If you knew everything you think you did, you wouldn't be in such a dire situation. Lose the ego and listen. We all love to see the successful folks, but they are few and far between.
Our gov't and schools need to get better at pushing healthy choices instead of medications and pills, but that's a rant for another time.

Food addiction is such a hard behavior to change. Like other drugs it is used for so many reasons. What is so sad so many of the people on this show are so young. I know people don't think there are really that many calories in a portion of food and then multiply it by 4 or more and you will have eaten enough to gain a pound. Do it consistently and here you are extremely overweight. I truly like to eat and I am about 20 pounds overweight but I have to really watch and keep it in control. Weight loss doesn't come easy for me so I stay on a healthier eating plan most of the time. There are days I just say what the hooey and splurge but get back on it. At my age I doubt I will ever be at my ideal weight( I would have to starve myself) but if I can stay within range and feel good then I am okay with it.

It's gotten to the point where I almost don't want to watch this show any more. It seems like they constantly cast people - intentionally or not - who not only fail, but who are just terrible people. They're nasty to their friends and family (or should I just call them "caregivers"?), they're nasty to Dr. Now, and all they do is whine about how no one understands what they're going through when it's clear that plenty of people DO.
I have to believe that there HAVE to be people who've applied to be on the show who wouldn't do those things, but the casting people don't pick them and it's got to be because they believe those people draw in viewers. I just can't believe that there are people who watch this show for these awful ones. I know there are some who enjoy reality TV for the trainwrecks, but I'm not one of them (for the most part), especially when we're talking about a show that can save lives.

For the last few seasons, I've made a habit out of checking the comments about the episode on the TLC FB page. If it looks like the person is horrible, I don't watch. Obviously, results are going to vary, but I just don't want to watch the ones who are terrible people.

This is really upsetting and even though she was half the size she was on the show "a terrible infection that went septic" sounds a lot like cellulitis; had it in the past and was in hospital for a few days getting pumped with antibiotics. Fortunately they worked and stopped the spread. It's nasty and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Aw, I actually remember Ashley. She was the one who was coaching softball. It sounds like she'd gained some of her weight back, but it seemed like she was going to "make it" and have a good life.
I think you just can't discount the amount of irreparable damage super obesity can do to the body. Even if they lose a lot of the weight, it just might not make that much of a difference.

I personally don't think she needed it but pressure is pressure. Almost two weeks after surgery, she wasn't feeling well. Her "doctor" said it was normal. She actually was septic. By the time she got to the ER, it was too late, her insides were wrecked. This happened in another country but it brings home the fact that this is still a dangerous surgery and should not be taken lightly.

💜 libgirl2 I am so sorry for your loss. That is awful. Something similar happened to my brother after WLS. He was checked for leaks a few days after surgery and got the all clear. He didn’t feel great though but ignored it until he couldn’t walk from the pain. When he got to the hospital they discovered a leak and the acid had caused his kidneys to fail. They had to put him in a coma for 3 weeks. I went to visit him while he was in a coma and felt so terrible that surgery had led to this. After he came out of the coma, he had to learn to walk again. His mental state was also not good, he had hallucinations and paranoia. It took 6 months before he got back to semi normal.

Every surgery comes with a risk. How is he now? I hope closer to normal.

I didn't think she needed it either, but maybe I'm so used to this show that I think you have to be enormous to get it.
