I thought this was interesting: soapdirt.com/married-at-first-sight-erik-lake-busted-in-big-lie/Note the pic of Erik and, I think, his ex-wife and their CAT! I suspect the issue isn't really the cat at all - it's about control. My mom and I were talking about it last night and she was laughing about his edict that she should just not let the cats get on the bed. We were talking about a friend of mine who doesn't know anything about cats who said, in reference to me talking about how my cat wouldn't stop doing something annoying. I can't remember what it was - maybe getting on the counter or my work bench or messing with the blinds. Her solution? "Just tell then not to do that." ITA about the spoiler from MAFS Fan - nice to have some good news this season! I can't wait for this dumpster fire to be over. I can't believe we have to wait two weeks for Decision Day. Something I read said that there's some sort of special on next week instead of Decision Day, which isn't airing until May 12th. They're stretching out the reunion to TWO WEEKS as well. Not two hours in one night - two weeks starting the week after Decision Day. What about this season makes them think we want them to drag things out? They should be aware enough to feel like they need to put this train wreck in the rear view as soon as possible. I agree with you on this. They need to speed it up , not slow it down .

I believe Eric and Virginia never should have been matched. Virginia's drinking and sleepovers at male friends houses is just out of hand.
Eric is way to demanding in some ways, but I do think he is right if he dislikes her having sleepovers at her friends house.
Watching this show since the first season , I think the " experts " need to do a much better job picking couples .
As a cat and dog owner , I have to mention , my dog and cat were both trained to stay out of our kitchen . We used a spray bottle with water in it , when they tried to enter the kitchen. They stayed together in the doorway and watched me from afar . Now we have open concept and they stay on the dinning room rug . Works great ! Just a little tidbit of my thoughts.

The way Virginia gets so defensive and unwilling to give up any opportunity to get drunk has me wondering if she's an alcoholic. It seems to be an obsession with her that doesn't seem healthy. I couldn't live with either of them. Eric gives edicts and expects them to be followed. At least half the time what he's demanding is reasonable, but not when it's in the form of a demand, rather than a request. She's not willing to give up getting drunk with her friends if Eric doesn't have the foresight to know his flexible schedule. I wouldn't want to necessarily give up time with my friends when I've planned something, but then I never filled every weekend night with partying with friends. They both should have been in the unmatchable show!

I think I may have missed an episode. Can someone point me in the direction where Victoria didn't come home after a night of blacking out? Where she actually slept over at a guys house? As I remember it, Erik was in the pool in Vegas and declared that men and women cannot be friends. That the guy will always make sex with the women. Stepdad Erik was willing to be reasonable if the guy friends in question were gay but held the line on straight man/women friendships.
Victoria has been very open about liking a drink. Liking her friends. Not wanting to be a hermit when her husband is out of town for days. Is she being Scarlet Lettered because she's a woman? Stepdad Erik has tried to implement his 1950's rules for a successful marriage (cause you know he knows more about marriage than Victoria)...made up stories to support his Ole Timey opinions (every woman has cheated on him, serious cat allergies).
Maybe Victoria is trying to make a stand before she loses every ounce of independence. You know Stepdad would toss a future "Now Victoria...you did agree that men and women can not be friends tsk, tsk tsk"

That's a no-no when you are MARRIED!! I just don't think she understands what marriage is. Not even sure why she signed up for the show.

I think Erik is a liar, full stop. I think he's controlling and manipulative. No idea why Virginia's cats aren't there, although I'd suspect it's because a) as she's said, Erik's condo is too small for all the animals and b) the chaos of a new house and camera crews might be too much for them. I'd imagine that they're either with a friend of family member or she's checking on them regularly at her apartment. I know that at least one of my cats would not adapt easily to the chaos of a TV show filming around them. I'd miss them terribly, but I wouldn't want to put them through the stress of that situation. I won't get into cats on the bed (ALWAYS allowed in my house - that's what lint rollers are for) and I'm not sure why there would have to be a litterbox in the bedroom It's really not that important, in the end. IMO, for Erik, it's just another thing to control (and no, I don't think his eyes look red or puffy in that pic - I think he looks drunk). Also, if I was mildly allergic to say, my (hypothetical) new husband's dog, if he told me how bonded he was to the dog, I'd at least TRY taking allergy medication first before asking him to ban the dog from the bedroom. It's what you do when you care about someone.
IIRC, one of the husbands this season - and maybe someone else can remember which one - said, "It's just a dog." I can tell you that if any man said "It's just a cat" in reference to MY cats, that would be the end of him It's indicative of a larger problem with his character.

I thought it was Chris, but I could be wrong. I agree with you on the other part . I don't think I could be with a person who does not like animals either .

It was weird when Vincent said to Briana : It was nice meeting you and walked out the door.
Just another thing he did to make me really dislike him.

Yeah he's weird, not really a good match with Briana I don't think. He told the experts he didn't want someone overbearing so I wonder why they picked her for him?

It's interesting, though, that Brianna says she won't change for anyone, yet she wants Vincent to make LOTS of changes--even what time he gets up in the AM.

Yeah he's weird, not really a good match with Briana I don't think. He told the experts he didn't want someone overbearing so I wonder why they picked her for him?I thought the same. Pastor Cal claimed at one point , that they ask all those questions about wanting kids , religion , type of features they want in a partner and so on . He said they read comments fans post about the failing couples . He said they hear that people think they bring couples together , knowing they will fail on purpose . He denies that notion . I don't think Vincent is right for Briana either .

It's odd that they had 2 slam dunk awesome wonderful matches last season. Plus Miles and Karen who stayed together but I had my doubts for a while that they would. And this season there are 0 of those perfect matches.
I wonder how they matched couples so well in New Orleans, but so very poorly in Atlanta.

They both have a weird humor . I just can't get over Megan talking like a 12 year old.And like a12 year old BOY at that! It was just weird. She's a really pretty girl who otherwise seems to have a lot going for her, but it's like she's been possessed by a junior high-age boy in the way she speaks and eats.
I think Jake might actually be on the autism spectrum. He relates to people in such an odd way and doesn't seem good at reading social cues AT ALL. He also doesn't seem to be able to pick up on other people's feelings, hence the snotty little asides that everyone hears. I have a loved one on the spectrum and some of Jake's behavior is awfully familiar.
I can't believe they added an extra episode to the season. Good grief, just put us all out of our misery!

Someone mentioned Erik wearing a silver ring instead of the dark one. I just finished watching this weeks and all of them are wearing the lighter ring. Noticed Vincent was back to wearing the dark one in his interview talking about cutting her hair. So not sure if that means anything.
I think I missed something with the hair cutting. That made no sense at all. They both want to change the other. If they stay together wonder how long it will really last.
Had to laugh that Claire was going to bed in full make up. Her taking that quiz was funny but at least she is honest.
Virginia cleaned up really well for her date. Erik said it wasn’t him when they got home but don’t pilots have to wear a suit coat and tie?
Bring on decision day !

These couples held back . They really didn’t say much.

I would have enjoyed that episode less if it hadn't been Woody & Amani and Miles & Karen. With two different couples, paired with Jamie and Beth, I might not have watched. At least it was only one hour! I agreed with them on some of the couples, although I still think Erik is super controlling and that Virginia should run. I also think Clara and Ryan are a good match and NOT surface at all, which is what someone said. I think they got down and talked about more serious issues right from the beginning, while Haley and Jake were asking each other, "What's your favorite color?" I'll be so glad when this season is over. With the exception of Clara and Ryan, I think they should all break up. I felt like Briana and Vincent were doing well, but we keep seeing the same pattern of Vincent acting butthurt over something silly and lashing out at Briana. IMO, his self esteem is too tied up with some imagined idea of masculinity. I think she'll eventually get tired of dealing with his issues.
