I have been watching the first few seasons of The Amazing Race on Hulu since I am still working from home. I thought I had only missed the first season, but I guess it was the first 3.... oy! I will say this however, I miss how much more work they had to put into things to decipher their clues, it almost feels too easy now. Also, there were a lot of teams that were just downright unpleasant in these early seasons. I don't even think Flo was the worst of them! I swear if I was Teri, I would have been arrested for something with the way her husband talked to her. That man was obnoxious and vile at times, don't know how she puts up with him.

We watched the first several seasons of TAR last summer. I had not watched until the all star season with Brenchel but DH had watched from day 1. There was one guy in one of the early seasons who was so awful to his wife that I fully expected him to just be removed from the race. He was not, but thankfully they didn't win.

Started watching Snowfall last week. Am at the beginning of Season 2 now. I still haven't decided whether I like it or not. The storylines are interesting, but the story seems to move really slowly

Thanks for the reminder. I don't want to forget to watch shows I don't usually have access to. I always start the week off almost struggling to find things to watch and then, by the end of the week, I'm scrambling to finish yet another series!
Today, I finished off season 3 of Riviera on AMC+ and then watched Deadwater Fell with Cush Jumbo and David Tennant on Acorn ( )
Now I'm watching Keeping Faith on Acorn with Eye Myles. Kind of a mystery/thriller involving a lawyer whose husband/law partner suddenly disappears and she finds out that he might not be who he says he is. I like Eve Myles a lot and the scenery in Wales is stunning. Not sure what's up next. Probably more British or Aussie/Kiwi crime dramas on Acorn.

Someone in one of my jewelers groups on Facebook recommended All That Glitters and now I'm obsessed! It's a competition show for jewelers in the UK and the episodes are available on YouTube. I devoured the first four episodes and am now waiting for episode 5 to drop soon. It's so cool to see people using techniques that I use in my own work, although I "slum it" with base metals like copper and bronze (can't afford gold and sterling!). Each week has two challenges: one where they have to make a "bestseller," a piece that would have mass appeal and; a bespoke challenge where they make a piece of jewelry for a specific client, who then chooses the winner. The judges also chose a Jeweler of the Week, which can be someone who won a challenge that week, or someone completely different.

I took advantage of my mother's free Peacock TV access (since she has Cox cable) and was watching some of their originals and I have to say I was impressed. I will admit I did watch the new Punky and Saved by the Bell and they were what one would expect, but not AWFUL. I will say that Girls5Eva was great! As was We Are Lady Parts, a UK show that premiered this past May, which I would venture to say was some of the best TV I have seen in a LONG time. All have short seasons so they are easy to watch in one setting, or when one is at work in my case I am currently finishing up Five Bedrooms now, it was not exactly what I expected based on the previews I saw but I was very much drawn in quickly. Not sure I would call it an original per se, like Lady Parts, as it aired in Australia 2 years ago on Network 10. It really doesn't give too unique of a base plot but there is something about the mix of characters, each of whom act as narrator for an episode that centers on them, that gives this some something extra.

Rewatching Season 1 of Fargo and picking up on the more subtle things I missed in the first go-round. Lester was always a horrible guy; the reason why he called the Billy Bob character over to his house after he killed his wife was to shoot him and frame him for the murder. It was only the arrival of that cop that made his plan go haywire and he was forced to improvise after BB shoots the cop, then disappears (leaving Lester with the bodies and another cop on his doorstep.

The Gift on Netflix. Interesting brushes with either the supernatural or alien. The thing is watch it with Turkish spoken language and English subtitles because it starts you off with English dub and English subtitles and the lips and written words don't match. I do that with Ragnarok - spoken Norwegian and English written and it works so much better. Problem is you have to watch to read, you can't look away or have it on in the background. If anyone has read the Belial book series, you will recognize the archeological site, Gobekli Tepe. That is what caught my attention as I've been reading more and more fiction about ancient sites being uncovered.
So far I'm through the first season and I'm trying to imagine a second season. I'm enjoyng it.

Big Brother! Last year, I introduced my friend to the show during quarantine and we've since watched random seasons but most not in order. We started with BB7 but we have also watched BB5, BB6, BB7, BB8, BB10, BB11, BB12, BB14, BB15, BB16 and BB22 when it came on. Right now we're halfway through BB4. I like getting to relive the memories of the show through someone else's eyes or remembering moments I forgot because they happened 18 years ago.
We're also binge watching Mrs. Brown's Boys.

Can't say I'm bingeing it since Paramount+ is only releasing an episode a week ( ), but the new season of Evil has started and the first one was great - David's "vision" at the beginning had me spitting my tea out. What in the world?! The show still has the same creepy feel with some humor - and now cussing! - thrown in.

That opening sequence was insane. The music?
I'm glad it premieres early in the day so I can watch it while it's light out. That's definitely not a show I can watch and then go to bed!
The swearing in the first episode is sort of like how Tom Ellis showed his ass in the first(?) Netflix episode of Lucifer. It was like them saying, "We're not on network TV any more!"

Speaking of...^^^ I didn't watch the last shows of Season 1, but I'm now caught up by watching the last episode (don't feel that I missed all that much) and now the first episode of Season 2. The creepiest part was her discovery of her and one of her daughter's origins. Real or Not? if Not, I feel sorry for the dentist.

Critical I thought we had a thread for Evil at one time but I couldn't find it! I looked and couldn't find one either. We need to start one before the next episode!
I'm trying to get through the last season of Shrill, but I'm starting to kind of low-key hate Annie. She's such a child. It's like a tweener in an adult body....that she puts baby doll dresses on. I started out really enjoying the show, but I get bored of shows where the characters don't have any growth. She just does the same thing over and over again. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I can appreciate that they're trying to do something different with that show, but it probably should have ended after season 2.

Since I got the two-month Acorn subscription, I've been making my way through some UK series. I finished three seasons of Agatha Raisin (LOVED) and now I'm on to Law & Order UK. Love me some Jamie Bamber!
I have so many series on my list. I don't know how I'm going to get through all of them! I might have to pay full price for a third month.

Oh no! I love this show, even though I only get to watch it on planes. I saw some episodes when I went down to Florida and I think it was season 2.

I'm finally starting Manifest on Netflix. I watched the first five episodes when it debuted on NBC and that is where I stopped last night. Time to open episode six and see where it takes them. Interesting what I'm noticing in the early episodes - currently it reads like a movie if you watch back to back.

Heads up, Anglophiles! Britbox is running a deal right now where you can get a year for $39. It's normally $69.99! That comes out to $3.25/mo. I think the deal ends on the 2th or 13th, so act fast! There's no promo code. You just sign up for a year. They take the discount at checkout, so it still says $69.99 on the page where you pick your plan. It does show $39 at checkout, so it's not a bait and switch situation
I was going to wait to try out BritBox until my two month subscription to Acorn was over, but this deal was too good to pass up!
Right now, I'm in the middle of Law & Order UK, but I may take a break and watch something lighter. L&O is a bit dark.

Thanks! I just signed up and got the discount rate! It doesn't say it outright after checkout, but then I checked my statement and they charged the lower price.

I signed up on my phone I could have sworn it showed the discount price at checkout. Oh well, it does work and that's what matters! It also says, on the page where you choose the subscription plan that you get the $39 price when you do a year subscription. I didn't see that at first and went hunting for a coupon code. It's very hot here. My brain is scrambled!

Since I've got maybe a month left on my Acorn subscription, I've been watching as many series as I can. I finished Law & Order UK and moved on to Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries, which I LOVE. I want to live in her house, wear her wardrobe and be pursued by all of those fabulous men. What a life! You know, and the murders. There's that too I'll be watching the spin-off after I finish the original.
I'm excited for season 5 of Doctor Doctor, which is premiering (I think, I hope) next weekend.

In the PEACOCK Originals section, I've started watching WE ARE LADY PARTS. It's a quirky, British take on a girls' punk band taking place in London. It is also a coming to empowerment story where POC rule. Funny, scary and all that. I'm enjoying it.
