I haven't had a chance to watch today's show but i recorded it. Has anyone watched to know if Meghan was on? I would hope she was taking this week off! No she wasn't on. They showed the clip of her and her father when he was on the show though.Whoopi missed Senators McCain's funeral, because her plane had trouble( and you know how she hates flying) Abby seems nice enough, she comes from a large diverse family . Joy and Sunny didn't look very happy, probably being back from holiday. The second half with the guest I missed..and I didn't have it on record

I decided I didn't want to wait until I got home, so i"m listening to the recording of today's show at work. . I LOVED the tribute they edited going into their first commercial break. I've watched a lot of tributes to John McCain over the past week, and I thought theirs and the show SE Cupp did both came across as being the kinds of tributes that friends can do to support a friend rather than news tributes. It was very well done.

Should be interesting when Meghan comes back. I have a new respect for her, btw, since that kickass eulogy she delivered at her father's service. Abby's father is an ambassador under the guy in the White House. Wonder how that will affect what she says on the show. Interesting when Abby intro'd herself, she said nothing about coming from Fox news. Maybe it was just the "first day back blues," but Sunny and Joy didn't seem too welcoming or happy about the new girl. Finally, why does she get higher billing on the opening than Joy and Sunny? I always wondered that about Sarah, too, especially when it comes to Joy, who has been there so much longer than anyone, although I can understand Whoopi getting top billing.

I've never paid attention to the order they are shown in the intro, I usually fast forward it. When you first pointed that out, I wondered if it may be alphabetical, but if it was, Joy would be first. Do they do the order in the order they sit around the table? Abby was sitting in Sarah's old seat today, so if they do it in table order, that would explain it. Who knows! I liked what Abby contributed today. I thought she made some good points about how a political family discusses things behind the scenes that they do not make public. She did surprise me in disclosing as much as she did about things Meghan to her about her dad's funeral. I assume they are friends and that Meghan was okay with it. It sure would get them off to an awkward start if that wasn't the case!

I've liked most of what I've seen from Abby this week. I"m still curious as to how things will work when both she and Meghan are there. Several times this week it seems like Abby has prefaced her statements by reminding people she comes from a political family. I'm waiting for the first time she says that on something she and Meghan disagree on and Meghan says "yeah, me too". One thing I've noticed from Abby that I hope she moves past is that when she's explaining her view, she tends to talk to the audience like she's teaching them something. I don't like it on shows like this when the hosts act like the audience has come to them to be informed. Large portions of the audience are informed - they're simply looking to hear people's points of view.

But that was a roundtable discussion without an audience. Maybe she's nervous. I remember she was also funny-the roundtable was a panel of four young people with divergent political views. They all got along. I hope that translates to the show.

Never thought I would feel this way, but I miss Meghan. I wonder if there's a date scheduled for her return to the show. Today when Cheryl Hines was on, I wonder why Whoopi was missing from the table. As they're both actresses/comedians, it seemed strange that somebody like Abby Huntsman was there instead of Whoopi, or why not all of them? Plenty of room around the table.

I'm not sure if it's a hint for how much longer Meghan will be away, but SE Cupp who is a very good friend of hers was on Watch What Happens Live this week, and she was asked about Meghan. She said that she was okay, but still having a tough time. The way she talked it made it sound like she'd put a lot of emotions on hold during her dad's illness, and was now going through the process of processing all those emotions. It did make some sense to me in explaining why she'd need the time she's taking. But I agree with you - I miss her and I"ll be glad when she's back.

I miss her terribly, the table is boring. It takes some people a long time to get over a death, especially as her father and Meghan were so close.I went to a very deep depression when my father passed, I hope she is okay, and takes the time she needs..

Abby seems to be playing it safe. Very neutral. She seems pleasant enough. I miss having a 5th person at the table, though.

Joe Biden Pays Emotional Tribute to Meghan McCain: 'Honest, Principled, Unsparing' I wish that the Bidens and McCains could have put more of their genuine family friendship on display over the years, instead of only really seeing it after the two families were bonded further through brain cancer. I totally understand why they didn't / couldn't. But I love the example they set that friendship and respect is not determined by political ideology. I'm glad that Joe Biden keeps reminding the world of it now. I saw that Megan is going to be back on the show Monday. I'm looking forward to her being back and hope she feels the encourgament and support she'll get that first day back ... and the "ordinary" days after that.

Abby reminds me a great deal of Candace Cameron's time on the show. I think she's very nice, and understands pretty well why she believes what she does. But the approach she takes of wanting everyone to play nice just doesn't always fit at The View table. I think that Sara played that role so much better than either Abby or Candace because she eased tensions with humor instead of honey.

I think we might see a different Abby, once Meghan is on the show.( an shes not so sleep deprived) I like her better than Candace, who I thought knew very little politically

I agree, she definitely knows more about politics than Candace did. But I think she's as ineffective in the diffuser role as Candace was.

Hmm, I don't know that Candace diffused much, Sara tried to read all sides, and was the fairest around that table

It was lovely having Meghan back. Even with her shaky hands, bless her. I welled up with her.. I'm glad she thanked everyone, especially the ladies around the table. She's a class act!

I just watched it online, and I cried, too. I felt Meghan's pain. Bless her and her family! She was so close to her father, and I deeply admire that.

She did a really nice job of sharing her gratitude. I also liked that Whoopi started the move of each one hugging her as she got through it. And I'm sure it was carefully planned, but what a stroke of genius to have Yvette as a fill-in host since Joy wasn't able to be there given the bond she and Meghan have formed.
