I am sure in the old version of the show, Jackie made a number of bad decisions....so having her be a life coach in this new version was as MISS GRISS said, just ironic. Jackie has never been well put together. I think the MB is just a needy guy who walked into gravy with Jackie who is even more needy.

I'm loving the show without Roseanne, too. The other actors have a chance to shine, instead of mainly just having to react to Roseanne. Don't miss that loud screechy voice, either. I hope this show has a long run. I also think Matthew Broderick is a strange pick to play that character. I can't tell if he's supposed to be a very clever bad guy or just a decent guy who is somewhat weird and confused. Maybe that's the point. In any case, if he's taking advantage of Jackie, it's because she is letting him, which is ironic considering she's supposed to be a life coach now, pointing out other people's mistakes and bad choices. Any chance the show is playing up the irony of someone being a life coach but not being very good at managing their own life? If not, the reality is that many of us are good at seeing what others need to change and supporting them in it while having our own blind spots. Coaches, therapists, etc. are no exception. I think this is the point. She has never been good at handling her own life so her being a life coach is irony in itself.

Yes, I definitely think that's deliberate. She apparently wants a male companion so much that she's willing to pay his way, while if Darlene or Becky did that, she'd certainly lecture them about it.

I've heard it said many times that the reason people become psychologists or psychiatrists is that they are in need of help for themselves. Through the years, I've had both as clients in my former secretarial/transcription company and, believe me, I found this to be quite true. Thus, Jackie being a life coach fits this category, one needing help.

Has the show been renewed for another season? They can't have Darlene and the kids going away to live in Chicago! I'm glad she has a nice boyfriend, but this relationship is moving very fast. I wonder if Becky will wind up with the baby's father after all. He's a good guy, too, and I liked the scene when Dan offered him a job.

It feels to me like they are working to really set things up for a Darlene and David reunion once Big Bang Theory is over. When he made his first appearance on the show, both were single and it would have been easy for them to be together. With the possibility that he can come back soon, they've created obstacles that could make some good twists - Darlene having someone else, David being in a relationship that is showing some fractures. It feels like Johnny Galecki has said yes to coming back in a bigger way when he's able, and I'm excited at the possibilities.

I think the actor playing DJ was the one who least wanted to came back. I have no idea what else he is doing, but apparently settled that he would not have to do much on the show.
I like the show so much better without RB...the family members have developed more and the family dynamics are interesting. Sara Gilbert is holding the show together quite nicely.
I have read nothing of where the show is going or even if it has been renewed, but I do agree that her moving to Chicago with the boyfriend has to be telling us that something big is in the works for the family development. Again have heard nothing about JG's interest in coming back as a regular cast member.

I seem to recall a few weeks ago that Sara Gilbert mentioned on The View that the show Conners will have a second season, with the co-hosts and audience applauding. Or was I dreaming?

I'd hate to see Darlene's new relationship end, especially since her job would end too, and I feel like she enjoys it. Plus, I like them together. They challenge each other, plus are funny. I liked Dan offering Becky's baby's father a job. I'd like to see that go somewhere storywise.

I really like the boyfriend. Although I really don't care as much about Darlene as I do Becky. She is so funny, I love her - esp. when she is paired with Jackie. Her baby daddy seems sweet and could develop into an interesting character but wish didn't bring in the 'illegal' bit. Can't he just be Mexican decent and focus on how sweet he is?

Becky has definitely blossomed in The Conners. She makes me laugh the most now. I really like Darlene's boyfriend as well, and their chemistry and humor together is fantastic. I have a really, really bad feeling that he's about to exit though. Darlene can't move to Chicago, so something big is going to happen.
As for a second season, Laurie Metcalf said on the red carpet that it was going to happen but it hasn't been confirmed by the network. The last bit of news I read said ABC was interested in picking it up again and they were negotiating contracts and stuff. But who knows with these online sources anymore!

If I remember, was there an episode last season on Roseanne where Dan lost a contract to someone who was offering a lower price cause they hired mostly illegal workers? That was nice of Dan to hire Becky's baby's father, hopefully he doesn't get in trouble eventually.

Maybe he will ... and the hardship will make Darlene have to give up moving to Chicago to help him out? Their family has always carried a certain level of resentment about sacrifices they've had to make and lost opportunties - that could be a big one on many fronts

Jackie made me cry. Going back to the Lunch Box made me cry. I didn't miss Roseanne until this episode. I do like how NOTHING is resolved and we can pretty much expect another season at least.

I thought the story was incredibly well done they way they wove the idea that as soon as you think you're getting ahead, things shift and change. Becky's reaction to the deportation was also heartbreaking.

Loved the scene in the park with Becki and the father of her child. Becki was less than happy with eating dinner on a park bench while to him this to him was as good an experience as he could have ever dreamed.

Wow, that would've been awesome to see. I guess he's too busy filming The Cool Kids.

I'm seeing some parallels with Shameless -- everyone slowly gets ahead all season, until it all falls apart or is left up in the air at the season finale and they're back at square one the next year, lol. It's funny that both shows even take place in Illinois... fictional Lanford is supposed to be an hour or two away from Shameless' Chicago. EDIT: And it's triple funny since Emma Kenney (Harris) is also on Shameless!

The Jackie scene got me, too. I'm glad they did that. Jackie relied on Roseanne the whole series and it wouldn't have been right for her not to break down.

I also love the way they've portrayed Jackie's grief because I think it's so realistic. At the start of the season, she had the breakdown when she was trying to reorganize the whole kitchen. Then she seemed like she was keeping it together until this week's episode. She is the kind of personality that would try to hold everything together being strong to take care of Dan and the kids. It absolutely fits with the character she's always been to bottle everything in, and then explode at times. The writers stayed true to the character they created, and Laurie Metcalf did such a brilliant job acting it.

I cried too! I'm glad that they are talking about grief and showing it's not a linear process. It just comes out. So glad she kicked out her boyfriend. BUT I'm not glad that Darlene isn't moving to Chicago with Ben. I really like him and don't like David. Sadness about Becky's baby daddy. But I guess he was too sweet to stay in the show.

They've kind of left everything open pending whether the show will be back. Seems like it would be, but the actress who plays Becky was on Live saying that they have not yet been renewed for another season.

I was hoping RB would have seen the need to go into intensive psychotherapy after this fiasco that was all of her own making, but apparently not. At the very least, she should find something constructive and helpful to do with her time (and money). She needs to be trying to move forward.

But she is in DENIAL about doing anything wrong. Almost a year later and RB is still in complete ridiculous denial and defending her actions that cost her the show.
