If Emma had snagged the last double jeopardy question I think she might have pulled it off.

...AND, it will air in primetime on ABC!
It will air on consecutive nights in tournament style, and will last until there's a winner.

I'm surprised Buzzy isn't a part of it; he was such a consulting/explainer of the last tournament. Maybe they are holding him for the host role in case Alex doesn't have the strength to go on.

The James-Ken-Brad Jeopardy! tournament starts tomorrow night, primetime on ABC. Not its usual time slot or channel, and for a full hour. I'm hoping the guys are fairly evenly matched and it's not a blowout. Seven nights would be great! Tomorrow it's up against the last Ziva episode on NCIS.

I cannot wait! I got even more excited during the ABC special with Alex Trebek last week where they explained it would be a best of 7 tournament - kind of like a world series of Jeopardy. I am still curious as to how they are going to make it last an hour each night since the format of the show is so established for 1/2 hour. My hope is that there will be a triple jeopardy round each night ot make it longer. If they make it an hour with all sorts of vignettes about hte contestants, I'm going to get annoyed and have to watch it recorded so I can fast forward through most of those bits.

Each evening match is a set of two contests, 30 minutes each. It's a best of 7 matches, so anywhere from 4 days to 7 days.
That was a great special last week.
Edited: Whoops, it's the first to win 3 matches, so anywhere from 3 days to 7 days. Still hoping for 7!

So far Ken has won two matches and James one match. The 4th match isn't until Tuesday of next week. So far every Double Jeopardy wager has been the full amount because James has rewritten how the game has to be played.

True -- and I've loved watching how Ken has adapted to James' style of gameplay, and turned the tables on him as a result. I was afraid this was going to be a runaway for James, but I'm loving how things are unfolding so far. Well, except for poor Brad that is... He really needs to get his head in the game.

Oh Brad...I am hoping he comes back and wins game 4. A lot of people complaining on other sites about Brad “spoiling” it for James as he keeps finding the daily doubles...like James has a monopoly on the doubles. Mind you, Brad clearly knows if is getting in James’s way, telling Ken you’re welcome after he got that last daily double last night. Lol.

Happy that Ken clinched victory. I've always liked him and it seemed to mean a lot to him.

I found myself oddly disappointed. I've always liked Ken, but standing next to James and Brad he just seemed a little boring. I think that may be because winning perhaps meant more to him than the other two - so maybe he was taking it more seriously? But as each night went on, I found myself wanting him to lose. Then, once it was over I felt a little letdown that it ended so soon. Oh well, I'm glad they did it, and I enjoyed watching it! I had also been bracing myself for the possibility that at the end Alex may say it was the end for him - and I'm glad that didn't happen!

If Alex had announced his retirement it would have overshadowed Ken's win. That wouldn't have been fair. But it wouldn't surprise me if it comes up toon.
I read a spoiler after game 2 that it wouldn't go past game 4, so if correct it meant Ken was going to win last evening. Turns out the Vegas bookies had best odds on Brad, then James, then Ken. Backwards from how it evolved. Word got out early and there was a flood of betting on one player (not mentioned but I presume Ken) so the betting was cut off.
I wanted each to win at least one match, and wanted James to prevail. James' all-in approach, which the others had to adopt, kind of meant that more matches were needed to determine the real GOAT.
Anyone figure out whether James would have won last night if he had been correct in final jeopardy? James likes to study by reading children's books with basic lists. That would not have told him which side character could have had the most speeches in a Shakespeare tragedy. So maybe Ken reads Shakespeare and James doesn't and that was the difference? Or they both guessed and Ken guessed right?
James gets credit for forever changing the game.

I was rooting for James, but I'm happy for Ken. I wanted it to go at least one more night, though! It did seem like it was over too soon, but it was fun while it lasted.

I agree, but I appreciated all three. I like the way Ken acknowledged James' "all in" play and that he did it in final - wow! Poor Brad. At least now, Ken can say he beat him and didn't come in second to him.
Interesting that Alex said this was the LAST TIME we would see the three on the show. No more? I mean Ken and, especially Brad, are aging, but James could go awhile longer.
I was thinking about who could replace Alex and, of the three, I think Ken has the best grasp on what it means to host he show. He is a bit boring, but, then, so is Alex. You need to be low key so as to highlight the players and the dynamics of the answer/questions.

I'd love to see James as the host. To me, what makes Alex great at that job is the way that he finds ways from time to time to throw in a snarky jab. He's not mean about it, but will make an occasional comment that make you perk up and wonder if he really just said that. I agree that Ken has a great grasp on what it means to host - but I think James has just the right combination of personality, nerd and snark to pick up the mantel. That said - I don't think they will choose any past contestant to host. I think they will go to someone from the hosting world. I just hope it's not Tom Bergeron who seems to be the answer to hosting everything.

Ken is actually older than Brad.
Regarding last time comment from Alex...he could have meant with him as host, or all three (if one becomes host) competing together, or something else entirely. I would not continue watching if James hosted. He seems like an ok person but I personally find his persona on the grating side. I would be fine with either Brad or Ken hosting. I don’t find Ken boring. He is not as showy as the other two, but that’s not a bad thing.

I think people are too divided on James and Ken is a bit on the quieter side.

I loved him on Hollywood Squares.

I like to think a Jeopardy host needs that old-school professional broadcasting background, where they keep a calm, dignified tone to the show, with the ability to throw in some humor once in a while and chat warmly with the contestants when needed. A newscaster with personality would probably be perfect.
