I don't know if they're less likeable, but I think I'm a bit less invested in them. I don't know if that's just because season 1 was such a fun surprise, and now I know what I'm in for.

I don’t find Monay likable. I think it will come down to her, Chris and Gabriel and she could win but Gabriel may figure her out.

JR took a guess at Chris' relative, after getting clues like winning Dancing With the Stars: Billy Idol. So, JR went home. These last players are pretty bad guessers. Monay won the trivia game, so she seems to know more pop culture than the others, but she never watched DWTS and thought Billy Idol wears colorful jackets, so she's not going to come up with it, apparently.
In the previews for next week, Monay comments to Gabriel that she knows who he is. They all seem to want to go after Chris though.

At this point I really want Chris to win, just because they keep trying to get him out!

So true, Navybelle! These people are so dumb! In what world is Billy Idol, who by the way is also British, born in Utah or on the US version of Dancing with the Stars, for that matter? I don’t blame them for not knowing Donny Osmond, but I do blame them for making stupid guesses, especially when they actually know who Karsyn is. JR’s reveal was super sweet when he was talking about his relative. I do think Monday is onto Gabriel. She said his relative’s name, but JR shot it down. I do think there’s a cultural reason that the Black contestants aren’t familiar with Donny Osmond. The Osmonds were just too white bread for any of those folks’ parents to have been into them growing up. Speaking of Osmonds, young Chris has a foul mouth on him for someone repping the Osmond name. (Not judging, just noticing, since my mouth is as foul as his. 😂 ) They had to bleep him a couple of times tonight and at least once last week.

I watched the show in the middle of the night when I was having trouble sleeping, and I fast-forwarded through most of the strategizing after the game and before the elimination.
I’m now watching the parts I missed, and I swear these people are making up clues. Was there ever a clue that said Chris’s relative was friends with Elvis and Paul McCartney? He may have met them, but friends? No way! He and Michael Jackson were good buddies right up to the end and commiserated a lot about the lives they led, but there’s no way he was tight with either Elvis or McCartney. I did a little research, and he did meet them both, but just short encounters.
Fun story I came across. When Donny was 14, there was a knock on the door after a concert, and it was Paul McCartney with his daughter Mary there to ask if Mary could have Donny’s autograph. Years later, he asked Paul if he remembered. He said he did, and it was one of the few autographs he ever asked for.
Donny really was a big deal internationally as well as in the US, as this story proves, so it kind of strange to me that none of them seems to be familiar with him even if it was a long time ago.

Ok, THREE times Chris has been guessed wrong? Just give him the prize already, LOL! RIGHT? There should be a rule that, if the others guess a person's CTF wrong x number of times, they automatically win! Like a mercy rule in Little League!
IMO, the only way Chris isn't going to win is if he's made the guesser and he guesses wrong. The remaining contestants have NO clue who he is. If they didn't guess after SO many clues, they aren't going to. I mean, how many of us knew who he was related to (the family, if not the specific person) the second we saw him? I literally said, "Well, that's an Osmond."
Do you think any of them actually know who Billy Idol is? One of them said he was a teen idol? Um, no. I mean, he was an idol for a lot of teens, but definitely not a "teen idol." Plus, if they knew what Billy Idol looks like, why would they think Chris was related to him?
I still stand by most of these people not being very likeable. Maybe it's because they're kinda dumb and, yet, smug at the same time. Maybe they're likeable IRL, but not in the game.

Yeah. Overall, I'm not enjoying this group as much as the first season. They don't seem to have formed as close of bonds with each other or something. Somehow, I don't feel like I'm getting to know them as well, so I'm not as invested in them.

Somehow, I don't feel like I'm getting to know them as well, so I'm not as invested in them. All they're focused on is winning, but they're all TERRIBLE at guessing. It's kind of a train wreck. It's amazing to me that people can be involved in show business, even peripherally, for a pretty long time and still know so little. It did seem, last season, that most of them liked one another. This season feels all about the competition and there don't seem to be any REAL friendships.
For me, if they gave "purple socks" as Chris' clue, that would be a dead giveaway, but then I'm old and watched the Donny & Marie show. Knowing how these people guess, they would have thought that meant Prince!
My mom said something about them all being pretty young, so maybe not knowing the Osmonds, but they knew who Dean Martin was last season. I'm not comparing the two, but Dean Martin is a good bit older than DO.

In the first season weren't there several that we did not know right away? Yes but then they told us a couple of them which I liked. I think there's an Osmond in the mix. I saw a commercial last night and there's a dark haired guy that looks like he could be an Osmond.Just quoting my own post from 6/13

Prince came up as a possibility when they decided on Billy Idol. I think he should just be handed the prize as well. Heck, when it gets revealed the others will probably just say who? LOL

You’re probably right, dagwood! Donny was big in his day, but it’s been a while. Have there been any Peacock clues for him? I don’t watch The Masked Singer, but I think that was his disguise, and that’s probably his most recent bit of visibility in pop culture. Wasn’t he a finalist on that show? If there are some pointed Masked Singer clues for Chris’s relative, and Gabriel, who is usually pretty good at clues, doesn’t get them, that will be hilarious. Maybe he doesn’t watch his brother’s show. LOL

^Apparently he won that season, MissGriss - according to the clue found, but the kids didn't watch DWTS or know who was on it. Now, I have no idea what "purple socks" has to do with Donny, Critical so I feel like one of the kids in the house! I do remember him, and the show with Marie, though.

Frankie Avalon was my teen idol. Watched American Bandstand every day and he was a regular. Did not care for his rival Bobby Rydell as he was an Elvis wannabe.

Yeah, dagwood, I found an article that I didn’t post (I think it was at Screen Rant) that went into detail about all the clues about Chris’s relative from the games each week, and there was no mention of a peacock or Masked Singer. But I think there might be a mask on the clue board, which was one of the things people used to support the Jim Carey guess.

^So cool!! I would've loved those kind of bellbottoms! They were awesome! Baby blue with his face on the bottom of the leg. AND a matching little fitted t-shirt. I have no idea why my mom gave them away. I mean, they didn't fit me any more, but I definitely would have wanted to keep them, just for the sake of nostalgia!

That's hilarious, Navybelle! If moms know, I'm kind of surprised that none of the "kids" on the show do. When I was young, I knew who people like Tony Bennett were, since they were the stars for my parents' generation. When I was young, Tony Bennett was as passe as Donny is now. (He hadn't had the Lady Gaga, etc. resurgence yet). But I still knew who he was, so why didn't at least one of the houseguests know about Donny? So strange really.
