Whenever I watch these shows I have to remind myself that the eating ADDICTION is probably the hardest addiction to get over. Many people think the eating addiction is way harder to break than the addiction to hard drugs. I'm a sugarholic and it's almost impossible for me to break my own addiction. I'm a sugar fiend too, it's hard to cut back!

I feel like when you get to the point where you eat a dozen breakfast burritos in one sitting, you've lost the plot. How do you get to that point and not think, "Well, this is out of control"? How does it even occur to someone to each that much? Good advertisement for that cooler he sat on to cook though....
That start with ALL that food made me a little worried that this was going to be another bummer of an episode, but OMG, what a great family! I'm so proud of Chris and I loved how supportive his family was. How many times have we seen families who eat whatever they heck they want, right in front of their loved one, who's trying to lose weight? I love that they did it with him.
I was sure, since he hadn't really been in contact with his mom for so many years, that she was going to let him down. I do worry that he's not on board for the WLS yet, but maybe he will be OR he'll get there on his own. I really hope we get a follow-up episode!

He (and his family) made the lifestyle change, healthy foods and exercise, not just sitting around fast food wrappers waiting for the WLS magic bullet. I hope he gets it because I want him to succeed. What a pleasant episode.

After watching him eat eat 12 stuffed burritos and a massive mixing bowl of spaghetti (I really thought that was for the whole fam, but he ate it all ), I thought we were in for another waste of two hours. When he declined surgery I was yelling at the tv, but...he kept losing! So maybe he's the rare case that can suck it up and do it on his own. It was nice that he got his mom and brother involved, too. I do hope we get a follow up with him.

It was nice that he got his mom and brother involved, too. I do hope we get a follow up with him. I know. That massive amount of spaghetti could have fed all three of them, with some left over! I think these folks should have to watch the first 15 minutes of footage DURING the filming year of their episode. I think seeing it on tape - them hoisting themselves in and out of the shower, getting dressed, eating mountains of food - might wake them up. The producers could easily edit down a little video package for them - not like the finished product or anything, of course - and show the person. Sometimes the narrative or image in your head is a lot different, so maybe seeing the reality might jolt them into action.
When he canceled his surgery, I thought it was going to be a repeat of the last guy, but so far at least, he seems to be doing well. I hope that, if his weight loss does slow down or stall, he won't live in denial and will reach out to Dr. Now to get the surgery. He definitely seems to have a lot to live for.

Did ANYONE doubt that, after last week's episode, the person this week was going to be a waste of two hours?
That snotty expression he had on his face when Dr. Now was talking to him after that second weigh-in where he only lost 40 lbs had my blood boiling!
So....is his girlfriend on drugs or what? She always looks stoned out of her gourd.

That was his wife. I don't blame her for being stoned, she's been married for 20 years to a guy so big he can't see his own pecker yet he cheated on her, got the side chick pregnant, and now she's stuck raising the poor kid and scrubbing out her husband's buttcrack because he can't.
UGH. I didn't like this guy from the start, the snotty attitude towards Dr. Now didn't help. How do people eat entire boxes of Eggos and spend $95 at Popeye's??
Somehow this turd got approved for surgery, we got the robot and the stomach on the table, but he looked the same as he did in the beginning of the show. Whatever. That was a crap finale.

It feels a bit too on the nose that she ate something called a Barnyard
I didn't realize last night's episode was a repeat. I definitely don't remember watching it when it aired. I thought Brianne's episode would turn out like so many others, but it was nice to see her make so much progress.
I searched for an update on her and WOW, has her life changed! Right around the time she had/was recovering from skin removal surgery, she discovered that her husband was cheating on her and HAD been cheating on her for some time. She dumped him and has since remarried and has a son (I think) with her new husband. I don't know if she's gained some weight back, but it's possible, since the pics on her IG are all face pics with that sm angle. She definitely hasn't gained ALL of her weight back and she seems to be in a happier relationship. Apparently, after she left her husband, her stepdaughter moved in with her. She was angry at her dad too.
This is one of the few episodes where the parent isn't heavy. Usually, the whole family looks like they could be patients of Dr. Now.

She looks really, really good!
She had tried for 10 years to become pregnant with Rick but had not been successful.
Sometimes the Universe looks out for you and does you a solid because could you imagine if she had his kid and then he pulled the mess he did? Bravo for marrying her best friend and having a child with him instead!

I wish Dr Now would work with a plastic surgeon who specializes in skin removal because some of his patients look...a little rough afterwards. I was watching a show called "Awake Surgery" on TLC (and Discover+) that shows a plastic surgeon in FL who specializes in liposuction and skin removal, and the results she's had with her patients has been amazing. This particular doctor has a patented way of liposuctioning fat away from loose skin, and then removing it. One gal had dieted down to around 300 lbs but had a belly area that literally went down to her knees and she looked great afterwards, while another had her batwings removed after losing 120 lbs. In both cases they healed marvelously and the scars were barely noticible. There's only 3 episodes but definitely worth a watch if you want to see skin removal done right.

Actual NEW episodes, instead of "new" ones that they created by breaking the original two-hour episodes into 2 one-hour episodes, so my DVR records them What are the odds that we'll get some actual success stories?

UGH. Total waste of time this week. Does this guy think ANYONE believes his bs? I love that Dr. Paradise totally had his number so quickly.
Why did he think working in fast food was a good idea? That's like an alcoholic working as a bartender.

While I was happy to see that he was willing (and able!) to get an actual job, fast food was NOT the place for him to be. I worked at a Hardee's in high school/my first two years of college, and everybody snuck food. Especially fries. And at closing time, we ate everything that was left on the line. Yeah this man was a waste of two hours. When I saw him sit down to eat two whole ass pizzas topped with an entire can of Pringles and three Dr. Peppers, I didn't have much hope. Dr. P clocked him right away, but I don't think he'll change.

She really redid her diet, had no excuses when she didn't lose enough and no sob story. This guy..... ugh, what a mess.

Yet another hoopty breaks down on the way to Texas. Don't go on road trips with sketchy cars, people.
And that brown/red stained mattress they showed looked like a crime scene. Why bring that with you? Throw it away!
I was amazed she got surgery at the end, but maybe the editors were messing with us.

He was very aware of his role as an enabler. He was supportive and the two looked like they had a good relationship. I wish her luck. That art installation looked really neat!

I'm convinced that they find/film the nastiest bits of these people's lives because there's a certain part of the audience that honestly believes all obese people are slovenly/unkempt/dirty/disgusting and seeing stuff like that confirms their biases. For every person watching this show wanting to see these people succeed there's another who tunes in to make fun of these folks, and it makes me feel some kind of way.

Even the angles that they film at, not to mention the bathing scenes, are to make the people look as big and as gross as possible.

I read somewhere that they get paid extra to do one of those shower scenes. Still, those low angle shots that make them look like a mountain are a bit much.

Between that and the people who aren't interested in changing their lifestyle at all and just want to be on TV I don't watch this show that often anymore. Thre is a such thing as dignity, and this show doesn't allow any....they just want these folks to look as gross as possible to titillate the audience, and I'm not down for that.

Delana has a FB page/blog page. She has lost more weight and is even wearing jeans. She is looking really good. She also said that she is a work in progress, not where she wants to be but not where she was. I have to say at least we had 2 out of 3 good stories.

Steven Assanti is a toxic piece of crap. I won't watch reruns of his episodes, it makes me ill to just look at him. Occasional trainwrecks are expected, but the vast majority of posts I see on X are cheering the person on. Yeah, we all make noise about the ridiculous breakfasts they show them eating, the two pizza "snack," etc. but most of us legit want to see them get better. But Lord help that person if they disrespect Dr. Now, they get roasted.
