It would be nice if they don't make it so political based this year.

The popular movie category was dumb. I don't think I've ever watched an entire Oscar's show. Maybe if they don't have a host, the show will be shorter and no one will have to suffer through bad jokes in the opening number.

I thought Crazy Rich Asians could have gotten something for costumes or whatever category takes into account all of the colorful sets and backgrounds.

I have looked over a few news/entertainment articles on the OSCARS and appears there were allot of snubs of different actors/producers/directors from various POPULAR movies!!! But the movie ROMA, I am anxious to see that!!! Hearing allot about the actress that got the nom with NO acting prior!!!

This year’s Oscar nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, but as Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross ran down the list of nominees for Best Directing, Best Sound Editing, Best Animated Film, and all the rest, there was one topic they didn’t touch on: Hosting duties.
As of TODAY, JAN 22nd NOPE!!!

I just assumed it was a theater movie and we never get to the movie theater these days. I've heard a lot about it and read a lot about it. From Wiki: I know it won some awards at the Golden Globes and either one or two of the leads were not actors and supposedly did a phenomenal job. One of my friends saw it and said it was an amazing movie.

Roma starts slow but it's just a beautiful movie, both storywise and the cinematography so definitely check it out if you get the chance.
Very glad that Spike Lee and Willem Dafoe didn't get snubbed, kinda don't care that Timothee Chalumet or whatever his name is and Ethan Hawke did. Ethan is an pretentious, horrible human being and I resent having Timothee shoved down my throat everywhere I go online.

Spike Lee doesn't seem that easy to get along with, but some of his movies are good. I wasn't sure who Tim Chalamet was, but I remember him from the show Homeland after that I read about him.

I was reading up on what happened to the killers. One of them has been in and out of jail for child porn (so awful I didn't want to read it) charges over and over. The other one has kept out of trouble and is leading a quiet life with his partner. It made me wonder if the one who is still in trouble was more of the leader and the other went along or was scared or something. But agree, I know they were kids but they should have stayed in a heck of a lot longer.

In order for a film to be elgible for the Oscars, it must run in a minimum number of theaters for a minimum number of days. So recognizing they had something special in Roma, Netflix did a theatrical release to ensure it was eligible. They did the same thing last year for Mudbound, which didn't get a Best Picture nomination but did get 4 nominations in other categories. It really is a great way for smaller movies to get accolades from awards and reach a wider audience. Before I moved to a larger city that gets some of the limited release movies, I used to be frustrated by some of the films that would get nominations and be celebrated as so wonderful that I had no chance of seeing. So it's nice that Netflix has figured out how to play the game.

I like True Crime stories but I draw the line at kids getting murdered by other children (I find the Shanda Sharer case distasteful for the same reason).
Considering how they didn't take the family's feelings in consideration or even asked them for input I'm going to pass on this. The reason why the director passed on asking the family for their input was because "it would interrupt the story I was trying to tell." His words, not mine. I'm skipping this one.
They also need to toss the one that keeps getting busted with child porn and throw away the key. He's had 5 name changes since he got out of jail for the Bulger case but he gets arrested again and again for sex-related crimes and is outed again. You can't erase fingerprints.

After they decided to eliminating the 4 categories from screentime I think I'm going to pass on this year's Oscars. It's fun to see the people in the non-actor categories win, and to leave them out disgusts me. It's like they don't feel like they are important enough too air, and that's a crappy message to send out.
