Well, since he was fired, and seems content with that.....I have no clue how they will make this better for him. If they don't, it would be outrageous and I'm sure fans would be angry. Hoping Gibbs leaves with respect!

Loved the Phineas story (unreal wonderful kid) and that Lucy the dog has a new owner. I think Gibbs' period of reflection is almost over. Now, to get the boat (beautiful) out of the basement. The "talk" between Ellie and Torres will actually be boring. Ellie has that secret agent training going on and I don't think Torres knows about that...the show hasn't mentioned it all year, but now they've re-introduced Phineas for one episode, she may bring him into her secret.

I thought they had dropped the secret agent plot, because the public wasn't interested in it....?? But, they can bring that back instantly any time I guess. I enjoyed the entire episode and love seeing Phineas again. Just as charming as he was in previous episodes, and storyline tied in with the aloneness that Gibbs was also feeling.

Okay - a new up coming member of the team and Gibbs has a case to solve with the lovely reporter. I really like their interactions. I know, I know, they are real life husband and wife, but it is good to see Gibbs softer and taken down a notch or two.

I agree. I was thinking the same thing, their interactions are natural, probably because they are married. But, I’m confused on where this is going... Is Gibbs going to be like Fornell? It is almost as if we have two separate plots with Gibbs making guest appearances each week. Last weeks episode fit in with NCIS....but, I guess it’s because this was going to be his final season, before he agreed to season 19. It is not the same though without Gibbs heading the team. Did you notice that next weeks Finale preview shows Nick and Ellie about to kiss? I was kind of hoping that would happen in the final season. Maybe they would get married, go on their honeymoon to Hawaii, and join NCIS - Hawaii.

From what I've read, Knight, is joining the team. They needed someone trained in psychology since Jack left. I hope the Gibbs/journalist pairing continues. With only one or two episodes left and a serial killer involved, this will have to continue into next season (unless she is killed) at which point Gibbs takes off in his new boat.

I'd be okay with Knight joining the team. I like Katrina Law and so far like her with the rest of the team. I liked her interaction with Torres, they could bring some more lightheartedness to the episodes. 6 I am loving watching Pam and Mark working together. I hope it continues even if only occasionally. It's an interesting dynamic between the characters.

Just saw this.....For Season 19, CBS has moved NCIS from its normal Tuesday night 8:00 pm (EST) slot to Monday night at 8:00 pm (EST). In its new time slot, NCIS will be the lead-in for its latest spinoff, NCIS: Hawai’i starring Vanessa Lachey. The reason for the move from Tuesday to Monday is because CBS is doing some rebranding. They are making Tuesday night an all-FBI lineup. Which means FBI will now air on Tuesday at 8:00 pm (EST), followed by newcomer FBI: International at 9:00 pm (EST). They will finish up the night with FBI: Most Wanted at 10:00 pm (EST). ‘NCIS’ Announced a Major Move Ahead of the Season 18 FinaleAlso, a cute little article on Pam Dawber on NCIS. Pam Dawber Had 1 Condition to Appear Alongside Real-Life Husband Mark Harmon. “I talked to the writers and the producers before I signed on and said, “If this is a romantic interest, I’m not interested.” They said not at all, that’s not where we’re going with this,” Dawber revealed." Bah! Terrible Season Finale! No cliffhanger? Bah! I wasn't expecting Ellie to leave, and that disappoints me a great deal. Can I blame covid affecting the brains of all the writers for that awful plot? Honestly, this entire season has been bad ever since Gibbs rescued Lucy. I honestly don't know if it is worth it to watch Season 19. Final season or not. I feel like I am trying to watch two shows on different networks, at the same time. It isn't fun like it used to be. I haven’t seen the show yet but read spoilers in my newsfeed. I was shocked about her leaving but then all the hemming and hawing with Torres makes sense and, remember I posted that her new training may come into play. We may still see her pop up next season or not.
So, is Gibbs in dire peril again?

Well, I find Vanessa Lachey over pronouncing enunciation slightly annoying, but if she can manage to tone it down....I will watch NCIS Hawaii. I am excited that a female will lead. The young boy (Kian) that plays her son looks familiar, but I haven't watched the shows listed that he was on. Tori Anderson will play high-achieving DIA agent Kate Whistler, who is determined to climb the corporate ladder. Kian Talan will play Jane Tennet's (Lachey) son. NCIS: Hawai'i adds two more stars to main cast

When will season 19 of NCIS air? CBS have confirmed that season 19 will start airing from Monday 20 September! It will air at 9pm and lead into new spin-off series NCIS: Hawai'i, which will air weekly at 10pm. Long-time viewers might want to mark that in their diaries as for the last 18 years, the show has been holding down the network's 8pm Tuesday slot.
Picks up where they left off. Harmon is confirmed to be in the premiere, but it is unclear how much of the season he will be in. Should that be spoiler???

It actually began last Monday...tonight is episode 2. You can see epi 1 on Paramount + if you haven't saved it on cable.
The new iteration - Hawaii - follows at 10 PM. Like New Orleans it is very much into the culture of the Islands.

I'm caught up, thanks Arielflies!! I'm not sure where this is heading though. I want a happy ending for Gibbs, I have no clue what that would be, I just don't like knowing someone is still out there intending to kill him. What a sad ending that would be for someone who has carried this show since the beginning. He deserves a better ending than death. I don't know......

There is (for me), a noticeable difference in Mark Harmon’s acting this season, and maybe in hindsight, last season too. I don’t know if he had a mini-stroke, or some other health issue. But, there is a difference in his speech. I doubt we will ever learn if or what happened, but I really wish him the best of health. I’ve enjoyed watching him perform in so many forms of entertainment through out his career. For me, his presence will be dearly missed on NCIS for the remainder of this season.
The goodbyes had me crying through this weeks episode, I’m also glad that they gave Gibbs a peaceful ending. Gibbs said he hasn’t enjoyed that level of peace since his wife and daughter passed, Alaska was a fitting closure for him. I wish Mark Harmon a happy, healthy and satisfying retirement. GoodBye Gibbs!

I agree. I didn't think it would be so soon in the season, but fly fishing in Alaska is appropriate.
I thought he was acting - depressed and tired - to make the goodbye believable.
What do you think of the "new guy"? I yelped when I saw his name in the opening credits which means he is a regular now. I didn't like his personality, but the Fornel reference at the end sort of sold me. Too bad McGee can't get his own team.

I thought the new guy is FBI, giving McGee the reins of the team.
I found two of the goodbyes especially poignant but really liked the one between Gibbs and McGee, with the goodbye and the passing of the torch, telling him to find his own way to lead.
I kinda want Pam Dauber to now show up occasionally. I liked her interactions with the other characters, not just Gibbs.

The new guy stepped outside FBI orders and is now a free agent - at least that is what I took away. I think he will be joining NCIS. If not, then he'll remain a helpful rogue like Fornel.
Yes, I really like Pam Daubers contribution to the show. I hope she makes the occasional appearance.

Oh, right. He might be a free agent. When I saw the actor's name in the opening sequence I knew he was joining for longer than just an episode or two. It'll be interesting to see how they incorporate him going forward.

I'm now onboard with the new guy. The writing was so good in both the hello and the goodbyes. Although Jimmy chewed some curtains with his over the top emotion, after he was done it was understood. Too many losses so close together.
They wrote the new guy being both helpful and respectful. I think Torres will come around - especially after Tim's explanation of why he didn't take the leadership role.
Loved how Kasey called him out for not shooting the bad guy last week sooner than he did.
It will all be okay.

Me too, I’m good with him leading the team. I especially liked that he followed the (assumed Gibbs recommendation) on how to ease into the team. The fact that he is former FBI, gives me hope that we will sometimes see Fornell too.

I guess some people on social media are really upset that they brought in Parker, instead of giving team lead to McGee. But, I would have been disappointed if McGee was named leader. His character has a wife and two kids, why would you want to give that position to someone who already spends so much time at NCIS as it is? Gibbs lived and breathed the job, he neglected social obligations to bury himself in work. McGee is very sociable, plus, he is the kind of dad who wants to be at his kids recitals, plays, sport games etc. That's McGee. Also, he has been checking in with Gibbs a lot, he takes the lead but, is quick to still call Gibbs "boss". No, I would not have been happy with McGee in the lead. I think they made the right choice in bringing in Parker. Nice article below: In the end, Ducky (David McCallum) put it best when he said that “change is the essence of life” despite it not being what the team or some fans wanted. “From what I hear, it sounds as if [Gibbs] is starting to live life again. Possibly for the first time since losing his family,” he told Jimmy (Brian Dietzen) on the show. “If that is the case, I don’t mourn his departure. I’m grateful for it. Our pain is a small price to pay for his peace.” link

Oh, one more thing about the new guy introduction episode...when Gibbs was on stakeout in his pick up, Fornel slides into the passenger seat and starts ribbing him about the new lady in his life...What's her name, Mindy?" Gibbs pulls a face and says, "No, Marcey."
I love the little dropplet reference to Mork and Mindy. There have been a few since the start of the new season - references to popular culture and fun to hear.
I love that he was going to a Simon and Garfunkle concert - cough, cough - when S&G do hate each other as mentioned at the end of the episode.
